A few well-chosen accessories can improve the user’s enjoyment. This collection of useful accessories helps Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition users get the most out of the tablet.

Also give our How To a read for getting the most out of the built-in apps, as well as our tips for using Touchwiz on the Note 10.1.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Book Cover Case

This Samsung branded case costs $60 direct from Samsung, but buyers can shop at Amazon and buy one for only $40. It’s one of the nicest cases for the tablet. It’s extremely durable and textured to help with gripping the device while carrying it around.

The tablet turns the screen on/off when the user opens the folio style case. It folds back into a triangle to stand the tablet up at a higher angle for viewing content like movies and typing with a keyboard. The user can also drop it down to at a lower angle for typing on the screen.

Poetic Slimline Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Case

Budget conscious users can skip the Samsung Book Cover and pick out a case that’s almost as good for a third of the retail price or half the Amazon sale price. The Poetic Slimline Case comes with an unheard of 3 year warranty. It offers all of the features of the expensive Samsung case, but costs only $20 on Amazon. Get it in one of six colors.

The Poetic Slimline Case comes in six colors of faux leather. The material feels good despite its low cost.

The Poetic Slimline Case fits the tablet perfectly adding very little bulk or thickness. It feels like leather, but isn’t. The cover folds back and turns the case into a landscape-mode stand that’s stable enough for touching the screen, even at the steepest angle. Users can type on the screen with the case holding the Note at a lower angle. Prop the tablet up at a higher angle for watching movies or typing with a Bluetooth keyboard.

Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel

Wacom Bamboo Feel Carbon Stylus replaces the built-in S Pen with a more comfortable stylus.

The included stylus works well, but people with larger hands might get uncomfortable using it for a long note taking session. The Wacom Bamboo Stylus ($40 direct) and the Stylus Feel Carbon ($80 direct) gives users a great alternative. The Stylus Feel look like a pen with a cap, but internally has the same technology built into the Note’s stylus. The cap protects the fine tip of the stylus and includes a clip to attach the pen to a shirt pocket, a computer bag pocket or even the fold of the Poetic case mentioned above. The Carbon version feels textured instead of smooth but also costs more.

The Wacom Bamboo Stylus Feel’s button works just like the S Pen button. The tip records input accurately and feels a lot like a pen.

Amazon sells the Feel for the same $40 but they have the Carbon for $5 less than Wacom.

Bluetooth Keyboards

Recommending just one Bluetooth keyboard proves futile since there are so many available and people like different things. We’ve reviewed a few that work great, including the Logitech Tablet Keyboard (seen above) that’s now a bit out of date but works great, feels great to type on and lasts a long time on a single charge. This is a great option.

The keyboard’s pictured here with the iPad, but works great on an Android tablet too.

The Minisuit BluBoard Universal Bluetooth QWERTY Keyboard (seen above) isn’t as refined as the Logitech, but it’s bigger and includes a channel that holds the tablet in place while using it and has a carrying case to protect it.

Poetic makes an all-in-one keyboard case for the Note 10.1 as well for only $35, or $30 on Amazon. The Poetic Keybook Case is a folio style case with a flap to hold it shut. It’s a little thick with the keyboard, the faux leather covering the back sides and bezel of the tablet, and the flap used to hold it closed.

The Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard will work great with the Note 10.1.

For people who prefer to go with accessories made by the tablet manufacturer, get the Samsung’s keyboard designed for their tablets which costs $60.

We’ve not tested these last two keyboards. They made the list because the Poetic keyboard doesn’t cost much and comes from a trusted manufacturer. Samsung makes the last keyboard.

Chromecast

Thanks to a recent update, the $35 Google Chromecast will mirror the entire screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition to a TV that’s hooked up to a Chromecast. As a result, gamers can play Android games on the large screen. Business or education users can make presentations. Android users who also own an Android phone can install the Microsoft Office Android app on their tablet following our howto. This involves installing MyAppSharer that copies the app installer to another device using email or cloud storage like Dropbox.

Extra Storage

SanDisk Connect 64GB Wireless Media Drive For Smartphones And Tablets

The Note comes with either 16GB or 32GB of storage built-in and an expansion slot that holds a micro-SD card. Owners can expand the storage to hold more movies, music, images or other files. Grab a micro-SD card and plug it into the slot. It supports up to 64GB. Users can also get a USB adapter that plugs into the tablet’s USB port and adapts to a full-sized USB connector to use with any USB flash drive. Better than an adapter is using a wireless flash drive.

Sandisk makes a pair of flash drives that include Wi-Fi connections and can plug into a USB port. We demonstrate how to use the larger Sandisk Connect Wireless Media Drive in the video above. The battery lasts up to 8 hours and stores either 32GB or 64GB of data. Amazon sells the 32GB drive for $75 and the 64GB for $120.

A Sandisk app will help the user back up files to the drives and let users make use of files stored on the drive. Here’s the app for the Sandisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive. Here’s the app for the Sandisk Connect Wireless Media drive.

Users can also connect the drives to their computer via USB to transfer larger files to the drive for later use with their tablet. It also works with iPhone and iPad or any device with a browser with a dedicated address.

I have the Poetic keyboard and it is terrible. The magnets in the case will turn off the device at random points and, for some reason, cause errors in how the menus are displayed. On top of that, the stitching to hold the flap closed broke within a week of GENTLE use. I don’t know how this brand was selected due to them being a “trusted manufacturer” First, you judge a product by its performance not the producer. Is every car made by Honda good? Is every one bad? Second, they are known as the cheap alternative, why would you assume they are offering a good product when you have not tested it? gottabesmarter.you
