10 Phones You Shouldn’t Buy Right Now

on

Deciding when to buy a new smartphone can be extremely tricky, especially if you aren’t caught up on all of the latest rumors. We can’t tell you what to do but what we can tell you is that right now is a bad time to be a smartphone shopper. There a bunch of phones that you probably shouldn’t buy right now and they include the iPhone 6, Galaxy Note 4, and Moto X.

The smartphone market is chock full of excellent choices. Devices from 2014 like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4 continue to shine nearly a year after their release thanks to their impressive hardware and updated software. All three of these devices have several more updates in their future making them solid investments right now and in the weeks ahead.

We also have a number of standouts from 2015. The list includes devices like the HTC One M9, the Samsung Galaxy S6, and the Samsung Galaxy S6. Samsung’s two flagships are two of the best smartphones the company has ever made. If you’re aware of how many smartphones Samsung has made, then you know this is an impressive feat.

Most phones from late 2014 and 2015 are worthy of consideration though if you can hold off, we recommend holding off for a few weeks as companies gear up for the end of summer and the fall.

If you can, you should wait to buy a new smartphone. The next 40 to 60 days are among the most active of the year and we’re poised to see a number of new devices arrive from top manufacturers like Apple, Samsung and Motorola. What’s more is that many of these devices appear to be very solid successors to the current crop of flagships.

Not everyone is going to have the luxury of waiting but if you do, there are several reasons to consider holding out, at least for a few more weeks. Here, we take a look at 10 phones we don’t think you should buy right now for various reasons.

Remember, this only applies to the next few weeks. Once Apple, Samsung and others announce their new wares, this moratorium will (in most cases) no longer apply.

If you've been thinking about buying a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it's in your best interest to hold off. A Galaxy Note 4 successor, and a Galaxy Note 4 price drop, are on the way.

Samsung hasn't confirmed anything yet but all signs point to a Galaxy Note 5 launch on August 12th or August 13th. The company has reportedly moved the Galaxy Note 5 launch up to put some room between it and Apple's iPhone launch.

Galaxy Note 5 rumors point to numerous upgrades including a design change, a brand new S Pen, an improved processor, and more. On paper, it looks like it will be an exciting new chapter in the Galaxy Note's legacy. It'll only be a few days before we find out for sure.

The Galaxy Note 5's arrival should signal the end of the Galaxy Note 4's reign as a $299.99 phone. It should drop to $199.99 or cheaper at most carriers. We should also see retailers undercut carriers as well. So, if you don't like the Galaxy Note 5, you can always buy the Galaxy Note 4 for much less than its current price.

I noticed that the LG G4 was not on the list. Maybe I should buy it while LG is offering the extra battery and charger along with a leather back in choice of color for free if you purchase prior to 7/30/15 and redeem by 8/15/15….. Even with all the issues it has with 5.1 Lollipop and no update to 5.1.1 release date mentioned yet.
