Step 4: Make a Backup

iOS 9.1 is a big update and big updates can sometimes cause things to go haywire on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. We're not expecting major problems from Apple's latest but it would still be smart to make a backup of your most important files before installing the software.

We've put together a guide that will take you through the backup process on iTunes and the backup process via iCloud. If you're not familiar with the backup process, make sure you take a look at those before you get iOS 9.1 on board.

It might seem like a big step to take but it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to big milestone upgrades like this one.

I updated iPad to 9.1 last night 10/27/15. This morning, Google app won’t open and bricks the device. It took me 3 tries to get iPad to shut down so I could reboot. NEVER had a problem before 9.1. Confidence? I think not

I don’t know about the google app but I lost all my contacts and cannot re-load them. This is a big problem – any fixes?
