The GTA 5 gameplay trailer shows off a fresh new look for the Grand Theft Auto, complete with a host of exciting new GTA 5 features and surprises.

After watching the new GTA 5 game footage a few dozen times we’ve pulled out the most exciting new GTA 5 features that gamers should look forward to when the GTA 5 release date rolls around in September.

Some of the best new features include improvements to gameplay like driving and shooting, a teaser for the GTA 5 multiplayer experience and small things like a destructible environment and built-in games.

15 Exciting GTA 5 Features

Watch the GTA 5 video below to see what the game will look like on the Xbox 360 and PS3. This video is made up of in-game footage, so we should see graphics that look this good. There is no eta on a GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 release yet, so this is as good as it will get in September.

1. The GTA 5 Map is Huge

Get ready for a huge GTA 5 map.

Get ready for a huge GTA 5 map.

This isn’t that much of a shock considering that the GTA 5 map is essentially as big as the GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption maps combined. Factor in all the vehicles and beautiful looking scenery and there is no surprise the game requires a massive install on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

2. Pilots Apply for GTA 5 Takeoff

GTA 5 offers plenty of planes.

GTA 5 offers plenty of planes.

This isn’t the first time GTA lets players fly a plane, but in GTA 5 gamers will find a bigger selection of planes and helicopters. In the GTA 5 gameplay footage we also see a lot of planes in the multiplayer setting, including military planes.

3. Mission Planning Offers Choices

Pick your methods, crew and plans.

Pick your methods, crew and plans.

Forget the structured missions of GTA 4 and other open world games which too often force players to perform stupid actions to move the plot along. In GTA 5, gamers can pick how to pull off heists and missions. While there will be limits, the trailer shows that players can go smart and quiet or loud and violent.

4. Customize Cars and Clothes

GTA 5 car customization and clothes customization offer fun ways to spend your cash.

GTA 5 car customization and clothes customization offer fun ways to spend your cash.

In GTA 5 players can customize a lot. From the looks of the GTA 5 trailer, gamers that spent hours customizing cars in Need for Speed games will have something to love as the game lets users customize wheels, paint and more. Players can also pick out clothes for a custom look, rather than picking between a suit and track pants.

5. GTA 5 Is Packed Full of Games

GTA 5 golf, tennis and cycling are built-in.

GTA 5 golf, tennis and cycling are built-in.

If you need a break from the violence and exploration of GTA 5, take a trip to a tennis court of golf course and relax. Rockstar shows off two mini games that let players get a fix of Virtual Tennis and Tiger Woods without leaving the game. No word on if there is a Rockstar Table Tennis game hidden away too.

6. Destructible Environments Look Amazing

These destructible environments in GTA 5 look amazing.

These destructible environments in GTA 5 look amazing.

The GTA 5 gameplay video shows a wall crumbling when the trio of miscreants smash an armored car into it. GTA games already offer some destruction in the environment, but it looks like GTA 5 ups the game considerably.

7. GTA 5 Multiplayer Should Be Crazy Fun

GTA 5 multiplayer details are slim, but this sneak peak looks amazing.

GTA 5 multiplayer details are slim, but this sneak peak looks amazing.

Rockstar teases GTA 5 multiplayer in a few seconds of the gameplay footage, promising a better look soon. Based on the teaser, GTA 5 multiplayer looks like a massive world full of players driving, flying and causing havoc. We can’t wait to see how it turns out.

8. 3 Players Means Triple the Fun

Jump between three main characters in GTA 5.

GTA 5 comes with three main protagonists and while you can’t kill your co-conspirators, you can jump between them at will when not in a mission. This allows players to jump between lives and settings to explore and have fun in the shoes of various people. During missions, players can switch when needed, to aid the other players, pulling off mor complicated plots than before.

9. Scuba Diving Offers a Bigger World

Explore with scuba diving in GTA 5.

Once you’ve explored everything topside, take a dive to explore the depths of GTA 5 in a wetsuit. We’re sure there will be a few missions that involve diving, but players should also be able to go exploring in the ocean.

10. GTA 5, Now With Hunting

Go hunting in GTA 5.

That’s right, no need to by Cabela’s Most Dangerous Hunts to get your fix of hunting on the Xbox 360 or PS3. Players can head to the wilderness outside of Los Santos to hunt, and as the trailer teases be hunted. We see a deer, but expect to see more in the wilderness.

11. Splurge or Gamble With Your Cash

GTA 5 lets users invest or splurge,

When you take your part of the heist home you can spend it on weed and tattoos or choose to buy real estate and stocks. Investments can pay off, offering more cash for your needs, or tank like in real life. Rockstar calls fast cars and tattoos the smart investments.

12. Driving No Longer Looks Like Mario Kart

Look for a better driving experience in GTA 5.

Look for a better driving experience in GTA 5.

The driving in GTA 5 is brand new, and from the gameplay footage it should be more enjoyable. Driving in GTA 4 is worse than Mario Kart with drifts and sloppy steering throughout, Rockstar claims things are better and the video shows spectacular driving.

13. Shooting and Picking Weapons Won’t Suck

Rockstar delivers a new way to pick your weapon in GTA 5 and new shooting mechanics that look fluid and fun, rather than clunky and frustrating. Gamers can quickly switch between weapons with a new menu option and shooting looks vastly improved.

14. GTA 5 Includes a Submarine

This isn’t part of the gameplay trailer, but it’s worth pointing out that there is a small submarine in GTA 5. With a lot of water to explore, we can’t wait to take the sub out for a spin around the bay.

15. Bounty Hunting Side Missions

Go bounty hunting in GTA 5.

In GTA 5 players can pick up extra cash playing bounty hunter. The trailer shows Trevor cashing in a bounty at a trailer home in the middle of a desert. This should deliver fun diversions from the main heists

There’s also a cabin on the top of a huge hill that many gamers are obsessing over, especially on reddit. It’s not clear if there is something inside the GTA 5 cabin on the hill, but with all this hype RockStar may need to add something, like a parachute, inside before GTA 5 hits store shelves.

i agree, there was nothing really wrong with the driving. It was the best of any GTA game; you could no longer take corners at top speed. can’t wait to see what the next installment brings

The driving in GTA 4 was heavy, clunky and cumbersome and was one of the main factors in the fun being removed from the game.

Almost everyone hated it with good reason. You guys are in the vast minority.

    It was VERY Mario Kartish.

NO! I know many people who like the driving in GTA 4. It’s classy, fast, rough and you get a nice feeling driving in the streets of Liberty City. You are the minority here man!
      Go and suck Mario!

      3. A classic hotrod vehicle for GTA Online
      4. The ability to pilot and own a blimp aircraft in GTA Online.
      5. Special deals for Michael, Franklin and Trevor across Los Santos and Blaine County.
      6. Special weapons at Ammu-Nation that are free in single player.
      7. Bonus outfits and tattoos.

The driving In GTA 4 was garbage, It felt like I was driving a turtle with anger issues. GTA 4 is trash in comparison to GTA 5.

Just to elaborate on all of your theories on the driving on gta 4 try riding around on a motorbike like the pcj 600 and ride around a little bit, turn a few corners and you’ll see why gta 4 has some pretty bad driving physics. I like the speeds on gta 4 but lets get real with the traction and handling. Plus when you takeoff, NO BURNOUT!

I hope they bring back the pmp 600 as to the 2007 chrysler 300 but a more updated version like they did the buffalo as to the 2012 charger

Oh no, it was worse than Mario kart drifting, the driving in that game was the worst I’ve ever seen. Im so glad they are completely revamping it, San Andreas was way better than GTA 4’s driving by far.

I hope GTA 5 is better than any other GTA ever created….the driving in GTA 4 was ok the guns are going to be even better.

The driving in GTA 4 was absolutely horrible and boring!!! all the cars were slow, solid and moved like a freaking rock! The people who say they liked the driving are an extreme minority because rockstar wouldn’t have changed it if people liked it!

Lol everyone saying the GTA 4 driving sucks obviously is just a shit driver. I have NO issues hitting most corners at pretty high speeds. use the sliding to your advantage!

DRIFT – you drift around the corners. same goes for bikes. one of my favorite things to do in any GTA is cruise around liberty city at top speeds with no collisions. easy peasy.
