In September, Google announced that it would be rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat, an update that would replace Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In October, it finally showed off Android 4.4 KitKat and its features. In November, the update begun rolling out for Nexus devices. Since then, we’ve seen several other updates announced and here, we detailed KitKat updates that will definitely be arriving in the future.

Back in July, Google debuted Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a brand new version of Jelly Bean that built upon the foundation left behind by Android 4.2 and Android 4.1. Many believed that Google would announce another software update later in the year, alongside a Nexus smartphone and sure enough, the company did just that.

On Halloween, Google finally detailed Android 4.4 KitKat alongside the Nexus 5. As expected the Android 4.4 KitKat, like the Android 4.3 update before it, bore few new additions. Among them, a new immersion mode, improvements to Google Now, improved multitasking, a brand new dialer, and more. The update is very much an incremental addition to the family of Android updates.

In November, Google finally rolled out Android 4.4 KitKat for its Nexus smartphones, a process that typically takes a few weeks. We’ve also seen a few other devices get Android 4.4 KitKat including Google Play Edition devices, the HTC One Developer Edition and surprisingly, the Moto X and Moto G, two new devices from Motorola.

While we haven’t seen a ton of roll outs, we know that there are a ton of roll outs planned for the future, thanks to information provided by the companies that curate these devices. For most of these devices, we don’t have release dates, just confirmation that updates will be rolling out in the future. Other device updates have more in depth details.

Here, we take a look at 17 incoming Android 4.4 KitKat updates, many of which should be among the first to roll out in 2014.

HTC has confirmed an Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Droid DNA. The company says that the update will be rolling out in the first quarter of the year which means a release date within January, February or March. HTC has missed deadlines before so that timing is not set in stone.

It's not clear if the Droid DNA will receive anything beyond Android 4.4 KitKat given that it will turn two years old this November. HTC has a strict policy of ending software updates after 18 months of support.
