Toshiba Satellite U925t Windows 8 Ultrabook Convertible Launches
Toshiba took the wraps off the new Toshiba Satellite U925t, a new Windows 8 tablet and Ultrabook convertible.
Unlike many of the Windows 8 tablet to laptop models we saw at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Toshiba offers a slide around design that maintains a single unit in tablet and in laptop usage.

Toshiba says the Satellite U925t uses a, “unique sliding hinge”, to switch from tablet to Ultrabook mode. Because the tablet is connected to the bas at all times this unit is thicker than some of the tablets we’ve seen, at 0.8-inches, but can offer more Ultrabook like performance. The tablet weighs 3.2 pounds, so don’t plan on reading for a long time with this tablet in your hands.

The Satellite U925t includes a 12.5-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass. The touchscreen uses IPS technology, which shoudl result in better viewing angles.
Inside Toshiba packs in an Intel Core i5 third gen processor and a 128GB SSD. The system includes front and rear facing cameras, something we don’t see often on Ultrabooks. The rear facing camera is 3MP and the front facing is HD for video chat.
Users can mirror the Satellite U925t’s display to an HDTV with Intel Wireless Display, using an optional $99 adapter. The device includes Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, 2 USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and an HDMI port. We also find the common tablet sensors, such as an ambient light sensor, 3D accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis magnetometer, GPS and NFC.

The Satellite U925t is designed for Windows 8, and users will likely use the touch screen to navigate the new user interface, but the tablet/Ultrabook includes a synaptics touchpad for a more traditional use while in Ultrabook mode.
Toshiba did no offer any pricing, but the Toshiba Satellite U925t will arrive in stores on October 26th.
