New iPhone 6 Rumors Detail Bigger Battery, Better Camera

Published

on

Two new iPhone 6 rumors shed more light on two major parts of the iPhone 6 specs. iPhone 6 rumors now show a possible photo of an iPhone 6 battery that is larger than the iPhone 5s and a new iPhone 6 camera sensor that could deliver better looking photos with the help of Sony.

So far iPhone 6 rumors cannot agree on what Apple plans to do for the iPhone 6 camera, but this is the second rumor to point to a bigger battery, and the photo shows a possible iPhone 6 battery that is within the range of an earlier rumor.

New iPhone 6 rumors arrive every day, with tales of what to expect from the new iPhone this fall. On their own rumors only offer a small glimpse of possible iPhone 6 features, but combined with supporting rumors and analyst commentary it is possible to put together a good idea of what the iPhone 6 may offer this fall.

In addition to these new iPhone 6 rumors that can help fill out the iPhone 6 specs, we expect a 4.7-inch display on the main iPhone 6 and possibly a larger 5.5-inch Phone 6 to compete with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4.

In early July Chinese publication digi.it.sohu reported that Apple will use a larger iPhone 6 battery this fall. The publication did not name a specific size for the iPhone 6 battery, but did point to a 1,800-1,900 mAh capacity battery. This is a 14-20% increase in capacity from the iPhone 5s.

A new report from Nowhereelse.fr includes a photo of an alleged iPhone 6 battery with a 1,810 mAh capacity. The photo shows a battery that looks similar enough to an iPhone battery with markings indicating production this month and the capacity. If this is the real deal, the iPhone 6 battery will offer 16% more capacity than the iPhone 5s battery.

This may be the iPhone 6 battery, which offers 16% more capacity.

Unfortunately a bigger iPhone 6 battery on its own may not be enough to offer better iPhone battery life. This larger battery will need to power a larger screen that could easily use more power than the 4-inch iPhone 5s display. It is possible that a larger iPhone 6 battery, a more efficient iPhone 6 processor and iOS 8 power enhancements will all combine to offer better iPhone battery life this fall, but that remains to be seen.

Bad iPhone 5s battery life is a major complaint for most iPhone users, and one that continually flares up even with small updates. After the iOS 7.1.2 update users complained of bad battery life, which may stick around until the iOS 8 release this fall unless they try steps for better iPhone battery life.

iPhone 6 Camera Rumors

The iPhone 6 camera is one part of the iPhone 6 spec list that is tough to nail down. For months rumors and analysts focused on a 8MP sensor, similar to the iPhone 5s, with bigger pixels and some type of image stabilization technology, but this new iPhone 6 rumor suggests a bigger upgrade.

A Chinese forum posting claims the iPhone 6 camera will feature a 13MP sensor from Sony, and while random forum postings are not the best source of iPhone 6 rumors, GforGames claims this source offers reliable information regarding Sony.

According to this new iPhone 6 rumor Apple will use the Sony Exmor IMX220 sensor as part of the iPhone 6 camera. This is a 13MP sensor, although a Sony phone with the same hardware may offer 20MP, on a 1/2.3″ sensor. The sensor can record 1080P video with 3840 x 1080 resolution sampling.

Apple uses a Sony sensor in the iPhone 4, Phone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, so there is a precedent for including a Sony Exmor sensor in the iPhone 6.

Consumers can expect an iPhone 6 release date this fall with at least one new iPhone. This will come alongside iOS 8 for older phones and possibly just before a new iWatch that connects up with the iPhone for fitness, notifications and other health features.
