The Samsung Galaxy S7 release date continues to inch closer as more and more details arrive. Over the past month we’ve heard a lot about what to expect in terms of the U.S. release, and now both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are a step closer and have finished a final hurdle.

Today, after months and months of rumors the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both cleared the FCC in the United States. A final hurdle the devices needed to jump before being released stateside.

Leaks and rumors have all but confirmed Samsung will announce two new smartphones on February 21st. Those being the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge with a slightly larger display. Above are the models numbers as confirmed by the FCC report. Then each model will have another letter for U.S. carriers. Like the SM-G935V for Verizon Wireless, or T for the T-Mobile variant.

Past FCC filings have detailed each and every single carrier, like we saw with the Galaxy S6 last year, but that wasn’t the case this time around. We can expect individual models to clear at some point, but for now Samsung has passed all certifications for each base model that will be sold unlocked in the United States.

Update: Both models for all four major US carriers have now cleared the FCC as well.

No other details or information was revealed by these filings, but countless other leaks have confirmed what we can expect. From the specs, a similar yet refined design, a micro-SD slot and even IP67 dust and water resistance.

As of right now the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be some of the best phones released yet from Samsung. Keeping the same award-winning design from last year, yet incorporating many of the features the company had to remove from prior years to make that design happen. Here’s what we know so far.

Galaxy S7 Specs (Rumored)

  • 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Display (5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge)
  • 8-core Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM (Samsung Exynos outside the US)
  • 32/64GB storage options with a micro-SD slot for expansion
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a refined Samsung TouchWiz Interface

Not everything above has been 100% confirmed yet, but thanks to countless leaks that’s a pretty good representation of what we can expect to be announced come February 21st in Barcelona, Spain.

Again, passing through the FCC was one of the final steps before these phones can be released in the United States, and now we just need to find out the actual release date. Sources indicate the release could begin around March 3-4th internationally, and on Friday, March 11th in the United States. Stay tuned for more details.
