Samsung Galaxy Android N Details

on

The Android N release is getting closer though Samsung Galaxy owners might have to wait awhile for the company to roll out its version of Google’s upcoming operating system.

Earlier this year, Google confirmed the next version of Android. Android N is currently in beta ahead of a public release that’s expected to take place, for Nexus phones and tablets, sometime this summer.

Android N doesn’t have an official name yet, Google is asking the public to help name it, but it does have a nice list of confirmed features.

While some companies (like HTC) have announced plans to bring Android N and its impressive set of features to market, companies like Samsung remain silent.

As we push deeper into the year we’re starting to see and hear more about the Samsung Galaxy Android N update. Nothing is confirmed but it looks like it could be several months before Samsung starts talking about the next version of Android.

Samsung Galaxy Android N Updates Rumored

Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything but it’s clear the company is planning Android N updates for its line of Galaxy devices. No surprise there.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning to release Android N for several well-known devices including the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and Galaxy Note 5.

The site also claims the company will push out Android N to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, one of its newer slates.

These devices will reportedly be first in line to Google’s new operating system. Not that this comes as any sort of surprise.

Samsung’s flagship devices are always first to major Android updates. This year, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 were among the first to get Android Marshmallow.

Curiously, popular devices like the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 aren’t on the rumored list. This doesn’t mean they’ll be left behind on Marshmallow it just means they probably won’t be first to the next version of Android.

Samsung Galaxy Android N Release Date

The first wave of Samsung Galaxy Android N updates is expected to arrive sometime later this year, not 2017.

It appears that Samsung is shooting to get Android N out a little faster than Android Marshmallow which makes sense given that Google is planning an Android N in the summer rather than in the fall.

The first batch of updates will reportedly arrive sometime in Q4 which consists of October, November and December. The Galaxy Tab S2 Android N release will reportedly take place sometime in 2017 after the initial push.

Samsung typically doesn’t confirm release dates in advance which means Galaxy smartphone and tablet users will have to rely on rumors and carriers for detailed release date info.

No one is talking about the Galaxy Android N release yet and we’d expect preliminary details to emerge after Google gets the update out to its Nexus smartphones and tablets.

Faster Android N Release Possible

According to a report from Bloomberg, Google is pressuring Androind manufacturers to get Android updates out quicker in an effort to keep up with Apple and its iOS operating system.

While Apple issues rapid fire iOS updates to its line of smartphones and tablets, Google’s partners, like Samsung, often lag with Android.

The company is reportedly using “both carrots and sticks to get partners to keep the world’s most popular mobile operating system more up to date.”

Why Android is better than iPhone in 2016.

The big test, it seems, will come later this year when Google and its manufacturing partners release Android N.

Samsung Galaxy Android N Features

Earlier this year, users on XDA-Developers discovered hints of Android N over on Samsung’s Developer site.

While nothing is confirmed, it looks like the Android N update could deliver improved stylus support. The site mentions the Edge and it also mentions the company’s S Pen that comes bundled with devices like the Galaxy Note.

And thanks to the Android N preview we have a read on many of the operating system’s key components, some of which could make their way over to Samsung’s phones and tablets.

Android-N-Nightmode

Google’s new operating system includes a brand new Multi-window mode, an enhanced version of the battery saving Doze mode, a freeform window mode, a new Settings menu, faster app optimization, Night Mode, and more.

We expect many of these features to make their way to Samsung’s devices in 2016 and 2017 so it would be wise to take a look at the current differences between Android N and Marshmallow.
