3 Reasons Not to Buy Fallout 4 & 3 Reasons to

Published

on

If you’re thinking about picking up a copy of Fallout 4 for yourself or a loved one this year, know that there are some reasons why you might want to wait.

Without question, Fallout 4 was one of the biggest video game releases of 2015. The game is Bethesda Studios’ first game since Elder Scrolls Skyrim and it’s a follow-up to a classic, the well-known Fallout 3 from 2008.

Fallout 4 is out on shelves and in the minds of many critics and gamers around the world, it’s the best game of 2015. (Like many others, I think Witcher 3 is right up there with it.)

Tons of people have already committed to this game. I am one of them. I’ve been playing this game for well over two months now and I’ve been fortunate enough to put 100+ hours into exploring the Commonwealth and the wasteland.

Fallout 4 has sold millions of times over but I know there are still tons of people on the fence about the game. Some of you might even be looking into buying this gift for yourself or for a loved one in 2016. I want to make your job a little easier.

For many of you, I think buying this game two months after release will be a wise choice. Others, I’m not so sure. And that’s why, after spending several weeks with the game, I want to go into some updated pros and cons that you’ll want to keep in mind as you try and decide when and where to spend your money.

Before you go nuts, note that I’m not saying “don’t buy Fallout 4.” What I am saying is that some of you might be better off waiting a few days, weeks or months before you pick up a copy for yourself or someone else.

Replay Value

Replay Value

Some $60 games are worth every penny. Some $60 games leave you feeling cheated. Fallout 4 is a game that's easily worth the price of admission, probably more. And one of the big reasons why is its replay value.

How many times have you picked up a game, played it, enjoyed it, and then watched as it disappeared into a case or closet never to be seen again? I can't even count the number of times this has happened to me. Hundreds, easy.

There's only a very slim chance that this will happen with Fallout 4. First off, you could play the game hundred times and it would be different every time. And I'm not just talking item drops and your approach to certain dungeons. I'm talking big things like the story.

If you don't feel like starting over with a new character, no problem. There isn't a level cap in Fallout 4 which means you can keep going and going after the main quest and faction quests are complete. And there's a good chance you'll want to do this because it's very very difficult to find and see everything.

To give you some idea, it took me 20 hours of gameplay time to reach the first main city (Diamond City). I'm now 100+ hours into the game and I've opened up maybe 1/10th of the map.

This is just the standard version of the game. This doesn't even include the free Fallout 4 mods that will be coming next year. If they are anything like the unofficial mods that are out for PC right now, they will help keep Fallout 4 active in your game library for a long, long time.

Oh and did I mention that Bethesda is working on Fallout 4 DLC? That means new quests, items, locations, and more. Say what you want about the price and the timing of the Season Pass but Bethesda typically releases solid extras.

So here's the skinny. If you're looking to get a huge bang for your buck, Fallout 4 is a solid choice. And guess what? You don't even have to pay $60 for the game anymore. Retailers like Costco are selling the game for $50 or less.

There aren't many one-player games that feature this kind of replayability.

This game has NO REPLAYABILITY. Just go in Steam and read the reviews… unfortunately, this “3 Reasons Not to Buy Fallout 4 & 3 Reasons to” is far from reality. As I said, just go and read the negative reviews on steam… it’s from people, who love fallout. The story is NOT so good, the map is ALSO NOT so good, lots of areas are boring, unrewarding and the crafting is very frustrating.. but that’s why you should read many reviews and judge by yourself ;) this was the opinion of the writer, I give you mine and what I read in steam… I was thinking to buy it now, it costs 19 euro with a discount. I played the free weekend, seemed ok, but after I read the reviews, im sure im not buying this. Not for 19 euro… maybe 5 after some time and when I can get all the dlcs on normal price…
