3 Ways to Get Google Play Store Now on Your Android Device

Published

on

There are now several ways to get the Google Play Store download–to replace the Android Market icon on your Android smartphone, tablet, or phablet–ahead of the update that is slowly being pushed out by Google. We’re hearing that Google is rolling out the update to its Nexus series devices first–including the latest Galaxy Nexus–and then Verizon Wireless devices as well as Google TV users are among some of the early birds to receive the update. For everyone else, you can either wait for the update to get pushed out to you, or you can attempt one of the following steps to get Google Play installed on your device.

The first way is probably the easiest. If you have Google Music, Google Books, or Google Movies installed on your device, heading into Android Market will prompt you to update these apps. They’ll be updated to Play Music, Play Books, and Play Movies respectively. You can open one of those apps and hit the store icon, which will then take you to the new Google Play Store where you’ll be prompted to accept the new terms and conditions for the new Play Store. From there, the app will update in the background and you’ll no longer see Android Market on your smartphone or tablet.

The second way is to go into your settings menu. From the home screen, hit the menu button, and go to settings. Next go to applications, and then manage applications and click on the all tab at the top. Scroll down to Market and clear your data and cache. Once you open Android Market, you’ll be prompted to accept the new terms and conditions of Google Play and then the app will update itself.

With the above two methods, you may need to restart your Android device if you still see Android Market and not the Google Play Store after.

And finally, the third method is to download the APK from the Google Play Store, which was provided on Android-centric blog Droid-life. You can download the APK from MediaFire. Installing the APK would replace the Android Market app.

Last year, 332 billion coupons were offered. Use of digital coupons taken from websites like coupons and Printapons is increasing but only 10% most of the coupons are surprisingly from sunday paper

Help! What is going on with this crap, guys? My HTC Evo automatically updated to Google Play Store hours ago and all of my music, pictures and videos seem to have been removed. They are actually still on the SD card when I connect to my laptop, but they don’t show in my gallery or HTC Music Player. Within the last hour my phone started constantly rebooting, but never comes on. This sucks so bad. I can’t even use my phone now. I am outraged with Google! May day, may day! Help!

My Market won’t update for the life of me… My brother (who has the same phone) has had it for about a week and I’m starting to get really angry. And Verizon told me that I will just wake-up one day with the new market.

Hi, I tried the second solution for my Galaxy Tab 10.1, to no avail: still no Play Store app! Still the Market App. What is worse: I can not find neither Play books nor Play music when I put them in the Market search box. It looks my tablet is stuck in a pre Play store era and does not know of Play store at all… Has anyone come across the same issue? Have you got a fix? Look forward to reading from you, thank you.

I have tried everything.  I can’t get Google Play on my GT-P7510 wifi tablet.  I get as far as the 4shared.com site and then selecting the google play store apk but it won’t give me a download screen.

Solution Found! (after 4 days of calling everyone and going nuts!)

I had the problem of my Androids Market not upgrading! I tried all 3 steps: Step 1 Didn’t have Google Music.
Step 2 I deleted Data and Cache in Market App BUT it WOULD NOT
upgrade my Market to Google Play Store even after reeboot.
Step 3 Downloaded Google Store APK file to my SD Card but didn’t
have a File Explorer program on my phone to open it up.
    MY SOLUTION
I reset my Dell Streak phone to Default Settings for my phone. It
erases all Data on phone BUT it finally worked.
When I rebooted, I went through the Setup for my phone (as if it
was a new phone just bought, you have to set Date/Time Google
    Account, etc.)
When the Phone Setup was done I went into Market and Accepted
the Terms and Conditions AND THEN it Finally Upgraded to Google
    Play Store!
I hope this helps some people. I’m sure even if your having other types of problems reseting your phone back to Default Settings might help your problems!

    05/16/2013 at 4:37 pm

Please make sure your Device is on the LIST for Supported Devices for Google Play Store.
Also when I set my phone to Default Settings it erased the Data on the phone BUT it did NOT ERASE any Data from my SD Card! Save anything you can to your SD Card before Reseting your phone.
