Install iOS 16.7.7 If You're Dealing with Problems

If your device has been struggling with bugs and/or performance issues on iOS 16.7.6, or an older version of iOS 16, think about downloading iOS 16.7.7.

The iOS 16.7.7 release notes don't call out any bug fixes, but new versions of iOS often fix unlisted issues.

iOS 16.7.7 could remedy performance issues like Wi-Fi issues, severe battery drain, UI lag, Bluetooth problems, random reboots, lockups and freezes, and various issues with first-party applications.

As for older versions of iOS 16, iOS 16.7.4 fixed an issue where built-in Apple apps that may have been deleted may not reinstall.

iOS 16.5.1 fixed an issue that prevents charging with the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.

iOS 16.5 fixed the following issues:

  • Fixed an issue where Spotlight may become unresponsive.
  • Addressed an issue where Podcasts in CarPlay may not load content.
  • Fixed an issue where Screen Time settings may reset or not sync across all devices.

The iOS 16.4.1 update had a pair of bug fixes on board:

  • Fixed an issue where the pushing hands emoji does not show skin tone variations.
  • Fixed an issue where Siri does not respond in some cases.

iOS 16.4 brought three fixes to iPhone including:

  • Fixed an issue where Ask to Buy requests from children may fail to appear on the parent’s device
  • Addressed issues where Matter-compatible thermostats could become unresponsive when paired to Apple Home
  • Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models

iOS 16.3.1 had a trio of bug fixes on board. If you've been dealing with one or more of these problems, and you missed iOS 16.3.1, download iOS 16.7.7 today.

  • Fixed an issue where iCloud settings may be unresponsive or incorrectly display if apps are using iCloud
  • Fixed an issue where Siri requests for Find My may not work
  • Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models

iOS 16.3 had several bug fixes on board including one for horizontal lines that would appear on screen when waking up an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Here's the full list:

  • Fixed an issue in Freeform where some drawing strokes created with Apple Pencil or your finger may not appear on shared boards
  • Addressed an issue where the wallpaper may appear black on the Lock Screen
  • Fixed an issue where horizontal lines may temporarily appear while waking up iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • Fixed an issue where the Home Lock Screen widget does not accurately display Home app status
  • Addressed an issue where Siri may not respond properly to music requests
  • Resolved issues where Siri requests in CarPlay may not be understood correctly (This fixed a bug that prevented Find My app from working properly with CarPlay.)

iOS 16.2 fixed an issue that causes some notes not to sync with iCloud after updates are made. If you use the Notes app and/or you've run into this issue, and you missed iOS 16.2, you'll want to install iOS 16.7.7 today.

The software also brought the following enhancements aimed at making your experience on iOS 16 much better:

  • Improved search in Messages allows you to find photos based on their content, like a dog, car, person, or text
  • Reload and Show IP Address setting enables iCloud Private Relay users to temporarily disable the service for a specific site in Safari
  • News articles in Weather display information relevant to the weather in that location
  • Participant Cursors in Notes allow you to see live indicators as others make updates in a shared note
  • AirDrop now automatically reverts to Contacts Only after 10 minutes to prevent unwanted requests to receive content
  • Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models

iOS 16.1.2 had two enhancements on board. The software delivered improved compatibility with wireless carriers as well as Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.

Apple's iOS 16.1 update fixed three issues:

  • Fixed an issue where deleted conversations may appear in the conversations list in Messages
  • Fixed an issue where Dynamic Island content is not available when using Reachability
  • Fixed an issue where CarPlay may fail to connect when using a VPN app

iOS 16.0.3 fixed four issues including three that impacted Apple's new iPhone 14 series. Here are those changes:

  • Fixed an issue where incoming call and app notifications may be delayed or not delivered on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

  • Fixed an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced

If you own a new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, or iPhone 14 Pro Max, note that Apple's iOS 16.0.1 update also had bug fixes on board. They included:

  • Fixed an issue with activation and migration during set up of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro
  • Fixed an issue where Photos may appear soft when zooming in landscape orientation on iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • Fixed an issue where Enterprise single sign-on apps may fail to authenticate

16.1 version is messing with my (encrypt. me) VPN app and my banking app. I have to turn the VPN app off to use my banking app.

Too many sites have new emojis as a main reason to upgrade (why?). I was going to blow 16.4 off since emojis are not important until I found much more important reasons that many sites ignore but were covered here.

My 14 pro max somehow goes to zoom without me asking and now I can get it minimized enough to reboot or correct the problem. Cannot call, text or receive.
