4 Reasons Not to Pre-Order Xbox One X & 3 Reasons You Should

on

While some of you probably want to put in an Xbox One X pre-order the second they go live, others might want to hold off.

Microsoft’s Xbox One X arrives on November 7th for $499. It’s not on sale yet but we expect retailers to start taking Xbox One X pre-orders in the near future now that Microsoft’s confirmed new pre-order details for a live stream at Gamescom on August 21st.

Microsoft plans to talk more about the Xbox One X, and reservations, starting at 9:00pm CEST, 12:00pm PDT. Retailers like GameStop are also hyping the event so there’s a good chance we’ll get a firm Xbox One X pre-order date and time during the show.

Pre-ordering a console is a little bit different than putting down $60 for a new game. The Xbox One X is a much bigger investment so you’ll really want to weigh the pros and cons before you commit your hard earned cash to Microsoft’s PS4 Pro competitor.

There’s are few really good reasons to put in an Xbox One X pre-order as soon as retailers start taking them. There are also some very valid reasons to take a rain check and wait.

Maybe you wait a few weeks (if that’s possible) or perhaps you wait until after the console arrives on shelves ahead of the holidays in November.

This guide will take you through a few reasons to pre-order the Xbox One X ASAP and a few reasons to hold back, at least temporarily.

Pre-Order If You Want the Xbox One X ASAP

Pre-Order If You Want the Xbox One X ASAP

If you want the Xbox One X and you want it in your hands on November 7th, you'll want to put in a pre-order and you'll want to do it as soon as you possibly can.

Microsoft isn't talking about sell outs or shortages but you can bet supplies will be tight ahead of the console's launch in the fall.

Retailers will almost certainly sell out their stock. And while we'll probably see additional stock emerge throughout the year (due to canceled pre-orders or thanks to Microsoft's supply chain), you can expect to see it dry up quickly.

If you want to avoid the headache of looking for stock or dealing with third-party resellers like eBay, put in an order when they go live. It'll guarantee you launch day pickup. And yes, we expect retailers to hold midnight launch events to celebrate the launch.

We've put together a guide to Xbox One X pre-orders and it'll run down the best ways to keep track of Microsoft's plans as we push deeper into the year.

You can use this guide to get a text when Xbox One X pre-orders start.
