The 5 Best Android Smartphones [October, 2013]

Published

on

September proved to be a lively month for smartphone launches in the United States including one big Android launch that took place at the beginning of the month. October figures to have at least one massive Android smartphone launch as well, meaning, those looking to buy next month are going to have a ton of options to choose from.

The end of the year typically proves very fruitful for those that are looking to snag a new smartphone. That’s because companies like Apple Google, and Samsung look to capitalize on the holiday shopping season as millions of shoppers head out into retail, looking for gift ideas for friends and family. 2013 has proven no different as Apple recently released the iPhone 5s, Samsung is in the process of putting out its second big name smartphone of the year in the Galaxy Note 3 and Google is heavily rumored to have a new Nexus smartphone up its sleeve.

The Galaxy Note 3 and the new Nexus will join an already abundant lineup of Android devices on shelves at carriers throughout the United States. And while the selection is going to be fantastic for those looking for a new smartphone in the month of October, it’s also going to pose a bit of a headache.

Many shoppers aren’t going to be able to wrap their heads around the sheer number of Android devices that are on shelves at the moment. Those who don’t follow the industry are going to have a tough time discerning a fantastic Android smartphone from one that is simply good. Even we had a hard time selecting what we consider to be the five best Android options. That’s how competitive the field is right now.

That said, here are the five devices that we consider to be the five best Android smartphones for the month of October, 2013.

HTC One

HTC One

The HTC One remains one of the best Android options on the market thanks to superb hardware, software that will be upgraded to Android 4.3 in the near future, and a variety of cheap options including a $49 Verizon HTC One.

The device may be on the tail end of its life as a flagship, it was first released in April, but that doesn't mean that it has lost its luster. The hardware is still fantastic and HTC has been working to improve both Android and HTC Sense, the latter being the UI that is on board.

It also helps that prices for the HTC One have dropped to ridiculously low levels, offering shoppers a top-notch smartphone at bargain bin pricing.

How can ANYONE let alone an android writer put the measly, meal, underpowered and old tech screen moto x above the LGG2. BESIDES the note its the fastest most inavative phone on the planet. Only AN IDIOT would. Put a dual core above the snapdragon 800. You are misleading people and wither your stupid or you have been paid off. Stop lying to people telling them the moto x(and I’m a moto fan so clearly not biased ) can even come remotely close the the LG G2! Discussing

Yea, honestly, the x won over the g2? I’m beginning to think I should choose another tech site to frequent.

Wow,took the words right out of my mouth. That’s not even in the realm of 1% opinion dustin. Totally inept or paid off,I am going somewhere else. I likes gtbm because there is always a plethoraof info and emails but the quality of content has declinedrapidly. There arw even emails now where an ophone writer is breaking android news, that was bad but this lack of knowledge or blatant bribery one of the two IS the last straw. I’m done

Please excuse the terrible spelling I am using Google voice to text and it doesn’t seem to be doing too well this late at night . previous post was supposed to say IPHONE WRITER not iPhone writer. Nonetheless even my spelling out does the fact that the Moto X can even come close to touching the g2.

An IPhone writer whom is also intrigued with Windows Phones writing about the top 5 Android phones. OMG I just noticed that, sorry man no offence but that’s like a ford employee who loves Chevy’s writing about Volkswagen’s. What’s wrong with you GTBM

I agree with except the LG G2 not being in the top 5. I love the Samsung products but I agree that besides the Note 3 the G2 is the best phone money can buy at the moment. Besides that all these models will bring anyone happiness for at least another year.

I agree also box accept have one comment, the moto x has a dual core which is old tech and my sons moto droid RAZR maxx has dual core and lags terribly, no I didn’t see but I would hope and think that the new one has two gigs of ram which would help a lot but I wouldn’t put a ton of stock and another full year of being happy with it. I could be wrong, but not of the reservation as part of this list. Lol
