5 New Nexus 6 Release Date Details

Published

on

Google’s brand new Nexus 6 smartphone was announced back on October 15th and went up for pre-order at the end of the month, but since then we’ve yet to hear any details surrounding the Nexus 6 release date. Today though, five exciting new details have arrived for potential buyers.

As promised, the Nexus 6 went up for pre-order back on October 29th from the Google Play Store, and sold out in less than 2-3 minutes by our count. This led to frustration from many buyers, not to mention the lack of details surrounding any actual release date. We know it’s coming to all five major carriers in the United States, and today Google shed more light on the Nexus 6 release date and pre-order situation.

Those looking to snag the new Nexus 6 were upset when pre-orders sold out almost immediately, and so far only T-Mobile has confirmed a solid release date for the new smartphone. That being November 12th. However, your next chance to buy one is tomorrow, and below are five new details surrounding the Nexus 6, and when or where you can get one.

Nexus-6-5

Today Google took a moment to update everyone on the Nexus 6 stock situation. Many expected a smooth release date following a rather easy release of the Nexus 5 last year, which was much better than the disastrous Nexus 4 launch in 2012. However, that didn’t happen, and things have been rather frustrating.

On the Nexus 6 Google Play Store product page Google’s updated the pre-order page with some extremely important details for buyers.

Pre-Order

According to Google, the Nexus 6 will be back in stock on the Google Play Store tomorrow, Wednesday the 5th of November, but again in limited quantities. Most likely it will sell out extremely quick again, so be ready to press F5 on the keyboard and refresh the pre-order page.

That isn’t all either, each Wednesday until the release date Google will have more Nexus 6 available for buyers to pre-order, and eventually buy once it’s actually released to the public. Here’s what they had to say.

We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible. To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then.

Release Date

In even better news, Google also revealed the release date for four of the five carriers in the United States, sort of. According to another paragraph right on the Google Play Store, the Nexus 6 will launch on T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, and US Cellular in November. That’s great news for buyers, but as expected (or feared) bad news for those on Verizon.

Verizon Nexus 6 Delay

The Verizon Nexus 6 release date is still a complete mystery, and it looks like they’ll be the last carrier in the United States to release the smartphone. Most likely not until sometime in December.

The Nexus 6 will also be available in AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular stores later in November. Please check with your local carrier store for more information.

The quote above, from Google, doesn’t mention Verizon Wireless one bit, essentially confirming the Verizon Nexus 6 release date won’t be until sometime in December.

This is all excellent news for prospective Nexus 6 buyers, unless you’re on Verizon Wireless. However, the Nexus 6 from the Google Play Store works on all carriers, including Verizon, with no tweaks. Simply buy one once it’s available from Google Play tomorrow, and insert your Verizon SIM card.

UK Release Date

So what about buyers outside of the US? Today we received somewhat good news on that front too. According to Mobiles.co.uk the Nexus 6 will go up for pre-order in the UK on November 18th, and be released on or around December 1st. That being said, earlier reports suggested a mid to late release in the UK. So either things have changed, or a few reports and rumors were wrong.

We still don’t have any concrete details regarding the Nexus 6 release date in the UK, but if this new pre-order information is anything to go on, it’ll be available soon enough, and hopefully in buyers hands the first week of December.

T-Mobile Nexus 6 Release

Last but not least is T-Mobile’s release date. The first carrier in the United States to have the Nexus 6 will be T-Mobile, with the company promising the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will both be available in stores and online starting November 12th. This is the first and only date we’ve heard, and given the details provided above from Google, others won’t have it until the end of the month.

Nexusfamily-3

This means November 12th is your first chance to get the Nexus 6 in stores, rather than from the terrible pre-order situation on the Google Play Store. If we learn more, carriers announce additional details or pre-order information, or things change we’ll be sure to update with all the details.

Are you buying the Nexus 6?

I was going to pre order, but after all this mess, I’ll wait till my local Best Buy has it in stock. I would rather pay for and be able to play with the phone the same day. If I pre order something and it sells out, shouldn’t that mean those units are ready to be sold? if not, let whoever and how many ever pre order and fill those orders first come first serve. When all those orders are filled, give em to the carriers. google has dropped the ball on this one.

I’m just sitting here, patiently waiting for Verizon to say SOMETHING. They probably are doing this for the fact that they don’t want the Nexus to interfere with their Droid Turbo release…

Exactlyyyyyyy. We’ll probably hear something from Verizon near the end of November, just my guess. Sadly.
