2 Reasons to Buy Battlefield 5 & 6 Reasons to Wait

Wait for Battle Royale

We knew that Battlefield 5's version of battle royale wouldn't be available at launch. What we didn't have was the release window. We now have that window and it's going to be awhile before it arrives.

Dubbed Firestorm, Battlefield 5's battle royale mode is EA's answer to Call of Duty's Blackout mode and games like Fortnite and PUBG.

Call of Duty's Blackout mode pits 88 players against one another while PUBG features 100 players vying for supremacy across several map sizes. Firestorm is smaller and features 64 players.

Thanks to a new Battlefield 5 roadmap, we now know when EA plans to launch Firestorm on the Xbox One, PS4, and Windows PC.

According to EA, Firestorm will be included as part of a "Trial by Fire" chapter starting in March 2019. It's not clear if the mode will be available right away.

That's a long wait, but it's not necessarily bad news. The lengthy delay helps EA avoid a clash with Blackout and should help it deliver a polished version of the game mode.

That said, if you were planning to buy Battlefield 5 just to play battle royale, you might want to think about playing something else until then.

Just to let you know there is a spacing typo for the requirements section. It threw me off there for a second. Happy Holidays and thanks for the article!
