11 Reasons to Wait for the iPhone 12 & 5 Reasons Not To

Don't Wait If You Don't Want to Spend

If you don't want to spend a ton of money on your next phone start looking elsewhere.

The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max are extremely expensive. The iPhone 11 is cheaper, but it's still $700 (without a deal) for the base model.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone's price points won't change much in 2020. There's a chance we see a slight bump due to the arrival of 5G, but Kuo doesn't expect anything major at this point.

YouTuber Jon Prosser, who has been accurate about unreleased Apple products, claims the iPhone 12 will start at $649.99. Here's how iPhone 12 pricing breaks down according to Prosser:

  • 5.4-inch iPhone 12: $649
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12: $749
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro: $999
  • 6.7 iPhone 12 Pro Max: $1,099

Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) agrees with those prices. Wedbush Securities analysts also believe there won't be a price bump.

However, analyst Jeff Pu believes the base iPhone 12 model (5.4-inches) will start at $749, an increase of $50. He believes 5G and an OLED display will drive up the price a bit.

Kuo also believes, in an attempt to keeps costs down, Apple will use a much simpler battery board design on the iPhone 12 series.

According to Kuo, the hybrid hard and soft battery board Apple plans to use on the ‌iPhone 12‌ series is 40–50% cheaper than the one used on the iPhone 11.

This, again, is in addition to other potential cost cutting moves like removing the EarPods from the iPhone 12's box.

If you can't or don't want to shell out $650-$1000 (or more) for your next smartphone, you'll probably want to look at other options.

There are a slew of inexpensive iPhone options to look at, including the iPhone SE 2, and there are also a ton of cheap Android alternatives on the market right now.

I guess there are more reasons to wait than to buy. Having patience, we can think more of what phone we really need and manufacturers add more features than the older ones. https://www.arlingtonplumbingservice.com/
