6 Reasons to Wait for the Galaxy Note 9 & 5 Reasons Not To

Wait for Bixby 2.0

Wait for Bixby 2.0

If you're an avid Bixby user this should be music to your ears.

If everything goes according to plan, Samsung will roll out Bixby 2.0 alongside the Galaxy Note 9 later this year. The confirmation comes from Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh.

Bixby 2.0 was originally announced last October during Samsung's Developer Conference. Improvements include a more natural-sounding voice, an improved SDK, and availability on a new set of devices including speakers and refrigerators.

It also looks like there will be improvements to the AI's accuracy.

Samsung hasn't confirmed an official release date, but Koh claims the company should be "able to unveil Bixby 2.0" when it launches the Galaxy Note 9.

If this pans out, the Galaxy Note 9 will likely one of (if not the first) the first Galaxy devices with Bixby 2.0 on board.

Bixby 2.0 will eventually make it onto other devices (like the Galaxy S9), but you'll likely have to wait for Samsung to issue it with a major software update, probably Android 9.0 P. And if the roll out is anything like Oreo, that might mean waiting until the first half of 2019.

If you're an avid Bixby user and you want the full capabilities of Bixby 2.0 right away, think about waiting for the Note 9.

As long as my Note 8 is up and running I’ll take a wait and see stance on the 9. I can afford to wait until the prices drop because I know it’s going to premiere at or near the $1K mark.
