5 Reasons to Wait for the Samsung Galaxy S4

Published

on

Six months ago, the Samsung Galaxy S3 took the smartphone world by storm and since then, the flagship smartphone has gone on to sell more than 30 million units worldwide. The Galaxy S3’s success hasn’t managed to slow down rumors of a successor though with the Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor mill already on fire. And even though it remains a rumor, there are definitely some reasons why users may want to pass on Samsung’s current flagship and opt to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date.

Read: Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Date, Specs, News and Rumors.

We haven’t even hit CES 2013 yet and already rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S4, its features and its release date are swirling around. For owners of the Galaxy S2 who will be coming off-contract next year, the prospect of a new Galaxy S4 is exciting. For owners of the Galaxy S3, discouraging or tempting. And for those looking for a new smartphone, it’s a phone that might be worth waiting for.

While the Galaxy S3 is great, for many, the upcoming Galaxy S4 will be worth waiting for.

The Galaxy S3 was one of the most impressive devices of 2012 and Samsung will likely try to outdo itself with the Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2013. That alone is a reason to think about waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S4. For those that are looking for a smartphone, there are several more reasons why you may want to consider waiting for next year’s Galaxy S4. Some obvious, others, a little more subtle.

That being said, here are five reasons to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

What’s Five Months?

One of the biggest items that prospective owners have to weigh when looking for a new smartphone is whether a phone is going to be worth signing up for a new contract. Most buyers are going to opt for the subsidized pricing of a smartphone and that means locking into a two-year agreement with the carrier, signing up for a data plan and keeping a phone for the many months to come.

Read: Samsung Galaxy S4 Launch Date Now Pegged for April.

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a fantastic phone. One of the best of 2012 actually. However, it’s now six months old, ancient in the world of Android. But that’s the beauty of Android. You only have to wait a few months before something else emerges that blows the other technology out of the water. Case in the point, the Galaxy S4, which is slated to be coming out as early as April.

With the upgrades that it’s supposed to have – a 1808p display, Android 5.0, quad-core processor, and given that it’s Samsung, a whole lot more – waiting a few extra months to snag the latest on a two year contract is a move worth considering.

Fantastic Display

The Droid DNA’s 1080p display with 440 pixels-per-inch is just the tip of the iceberg. Samsung will almost assuredly be putting a similar display on the Galaxy S4 with rumors pointing to a Galaxy S4 display unveiling at CES 2013. The display is said to be 4.99-inches in size, of AMOLED quality, and featuring 1080p resolution and 441 pixels-per-inch. If true, not only will it offer gorgeous text and beautiful video, it will blow away the screen on the Galaxy S3 and really, any phone not called Droid DNA.

The Galaxy S4 will likely feature some of the best display technology of 2013.

What’s more, the Galaxy S4 is said to be unbreakable. Like, take a hammer and attempt to smash it without success unbreakable. The technology can be seen in the video below.

So, anyone that really cares about good looking content, apps, text and more on their smartphone will likely want to think about waiting for the Galaxy S4 which should feature one of the best displays of 2013.

Galaxy S4 & Android 5.0

If the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes out in April or May as is rumored, it could be that it’s one of the first devices to get the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update from Google. Google I/O, the assumed coming out party for the update, is set to take place in May. We’ve also seen the Android APK which is supposed to help Android manufacturers get their updates out quickly. We’ve also seen the Galaxy S4 rumored to have Android 5.0 on board and Samsung be swift in rolling out Jelly Bean to its Galaxy S3.

It seems like a perfect storm and at this point, it could be that this phone is one of the first non-Nexus devices to see this update. And given how good Android Jelly Bean was, it figures to be a fantastic update.

Those that don’t want a Nexus and want Android 5.0 will definitely want to consider waiting for the Galaxy S4.

Fast Updates

Like Motorola, Samsung has made some fantastic strides in terms of the speed at which it pushes out major updates to its devices. For example, many of Samsung’s devices, including the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy S3 have been upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung has even taken it a bit further, already rolling out a fantastic Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S3 that brings the Galaxy Note 2’s powerful Multi Window View feature.

Suffice to say, it’s clear that Samsung is giving special treatment to its flagship smartphone and consumers should expect the same to happen with the Galaxy S4. It’s an aspect that certainly should put the Galaxy S4 up there on any potential smartphone shopping list for 2013. Maybe even at the top.

Improved Carrier Options

Finally, consumers will want to think about waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S4 because by the time it’s out, American carriers will have matured 4G LTE networks and, even better, one of them should finally be well on its way to getting 4G LTE in place.

The Samsung Galaxy S3, unlike many Android smartphones, launched on a multitude of carriers including the big four, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. Same thing happened with the Galaxy Note 2. While not highly touted, this is fantastic for those that are thinking about ditching a phone and buying a new one because it offers choice, something that is not always available.

Even better, 4G LTE is going to be even more widespread by the middle of next year which means those who either don’t have it or are in fringe areas may just want to wait.

Those who are on T-Mobile or looking at T-Mobile will also want to wait for the Galaxy S4 as well because it will almost certainly offer 4G LTE speeds on the carrier’s new 4G LTE network, set to debut sometime in 2013.

Looking at the speed test and while waiting for my contract to be up for the discount in 9/13 I still wonder why, unless LTE really does perform magically would I want to leave WiMax running at 15k down and 2.4 up the lowest I get is 10-11 down. This is in most of Palm Beach County where I now live I have not checked NYC where I am from.

The S4 will not have 5.0, it hasn’t even been announced and the first devices with the new firmware are the nexus devices. I can guarantee the S4 will have android 4.2 out of the box.

5.0 out of the box dummy. 5.0 is releasing just before samsung releases the new GS4. So 100% it will come with android 5.0 go do your home work idiot

While I commend you for trying to communicate with adults and for reading up on upcoming technologies, I believe someone should point out to you (and I’m taking this upon myself) that we do not try and belittle one another for expressing our beliefs, ideals, or thoughts on topics even though we may not agree with them. Example: I too believe the S4 will be equipped with 5.0 out of the box. However, being an adult I know name calling (especially prepubescent schoolyard-bully names such as “dummy” & “idiot”) are silly, needlessly abusive, and beneath everyone in this forum. Therefore, an acceptable response would look something like this; “I disagree with your premise sir. I have read numerous articles which justify my belief that Samsung will launch the S4 with the much anticipated Key-Lime update.” I promise you, people will be more open to your opinions when you respond in a kind a respectful attitude rather than brash and annoying.

Exactly, android puts em out way too often and that’s why you can’t sell a GS2 or he’ll even a GS3 for crap these days on upcoming it’ll be worse, I sold an iPhone 4S for 350.00$ no problem to get an iphone 5 which is reselling for 500.00 all day. Samsung is just cheap feeling and no investment at all.

I am in the wireless industry. In regard to trading in: Apple gets higher trade in at the retail/corp level. This is because the design is the same…blah, blah, same icrap. You can still get money for your android or other non-iphone by calling a recycling center. They will resell for you and really know the market.
FACT: As in any market, when new products come out, old ones start to depreciate. Thats why when you are due for your upgrade it is important to get the best phone for your money. You want it to get you to the next two years.
That means doing some research on consumers formats, in regards to your next big electronics purchases. Other wise you may get stuck with some thing only a marketing genius can, “make you feel like you bought the best”.
There are many sites that allow for cell phone comparisons. You may be surprised!

IPHONE4EVER You do know that at the time of release high-end smartphones are worth 700-800, Both Android and IPhone devices depreciate at the same rate. If you trade in, however, IPhone is given a higher price because of the ICraze. https://www.gazelle.com/ offers very good prices for the IPhone 5 compared to the GS3. The website does, also, have a dedicated IPhone button. On Ebay, which is where you should be selling this crap, the prices are about the same. The GS3 is a little older at this point.
P.S The ICraze is dying at an alarming rate. Sadly, its gonna be Sammy craze now.

I spoke to JBK, and you’re right, he is indeed cranky and calls people “dummy” and “idiot” quit often. But I think it’s just because he’s not sure how to interact with adults. But I spoke with him and I think he’s going to try and respond with intelligence and respect from now on so he can fit in with the adults in the forum. Go easy on him Diddly, he’s trying to fit in with us. I got faith in ya bud!

Why Samsung Organization cannot invent a mobile system to be equipped to the automotive system. This system to be equipped with the LOCAL SIM Card company. The idea is to connect
1- the phone set (MAHROUS SET) its an electronic device like phone with some smart modification with its a simple automotive connection. by means, after you leave the car, you call your car and you give the order by press special digit numbers to disconnect all the wiring electrical cable, to prevent t hefting the cars from thieves.
2- When you want to connect the wiring, you call again your MAHROUS SET and when reply you press special digits to connect electronically all the electrical connection of your car to start.
3- In case the car is been thefts, through your local telephone company can get the location of your car.

I hope that idea can take place to SAMSUNG, specially k nowadays and expensive cars is in trouble ( for informations, please contact me at ([email protected]) or mobile number +201003886903
    Regards
    Thanks for consideration.
