And finally, consider buying a phone from one of the many other manufacturers that release great products. The Pixel 2 XL has a big 6-inch screen, a great camera, and some neat features. It's not your only option though.

There are other phones that don't have these problems but offer a similar experience. Samsung makes some of the best hardware in the business, and HTC makes great phones too. They don't have the quality control issues we're seeing right now.

Samsung Galaxy S8 costs less and delivers a big 5.8-inch Quad-HD display. Or you can get the bigger 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ or even the massive Galaxy Note 8. They don't run Android 8.0 Oreo yet, but they will soon.

The HTC U11 is a great phone, as is the LG G6, or even the upcoming OnePlus 5T will give Google a run for its money. The OnePlus 5T has dual cameras, a 6-inch screen with similar small bezels, and runs nearly stock Android. In fact, the OnePlus 5T might be the best Pixel 2 XL alternative when it's released in late November for under $600.

We love what Google's doing with its Pixel line of smartphones, but they're experiencing a few hiccups that simply can't be ignored. I have and love the Pixel 2 XL, but mine doesn't have the screen issues others are reporting.

At the end of the day, we recommend waiting a little longer to see how everything plays out. Or, if you can't wait, buy one of the many great Android smartphones available right now. You have more choices than ever before.
