5 Tablets You Shouldn’t Buy in 2020

This might seem like an odd device to include on this list, but hear us out.

Apple's fourth generation iPad mini got upgraded to iPadOS 13 and there's a good chance it gets upgraded to iPadOS 14 next year. It's also much cheaper than it once was. That said, we recommend going with the newer model.

In case you forgot, Apple went a few years without releasing a new iPad mini model. The iPad mini 4 launched in the fall of 2015 and then Apple proceeded to skip 2016, 2017, and 2018. That's what made iPad mini 5's launch back in March, 2019 so surprising.

The iPad mini 4 is cheap and it will get future iPadOS updates, but its hardware is extremely old. It pales in comparison to the newer iPad mini 5.

If you plan to use your next tablet as a workhorse or you want to play the best version of the latest games, you'll want to go with the fifth-gen model.

It's faster, it has better performance (the iPad mini 4 utilizes a dual-core A8 processor and 2GB of RAM while the iPad mini 5 uses a much newer A12 Bionic chip with 3GB of RAM), and (if you like to use your iPad to shoot photos and videos or for FaceTime calls) it has superior cameras.

The iPad mini 5 is also pretty cheap itself. The device starts at $400 for the Wi-Fi only model, but you can find it cheaper through retailers like Amazon.
