5 Xbox One Games to Buy in 2014

It’s been a strange first year for Microsoft’s Xbox One all-in-one entertainment system, but relief is coming this fall. After dropping the all-in-one tagline early on, the Xbox One has settled into a strange position. There are new games coming to the system every other week it seems, but most of them are developed by independent game makers. Those big titles are few and few in between. Really, Watch Dogs was the last high-profile title to launch on the console and that was in May.

Understandably, there are going to be some Xbox One owners who are disappointed with the selection of games available on the Xbox One. However, that’s likely to all change later this year when Microsoft and some of third-party developers release tons of new games for the console. As it stands now, here are the 5 games Xbox One owners should be thinking about purchasing this fall when they make their début.

This list is based on what we’ve seen of each game so far and the game play their developers showcased in recent weeks. It’s some cases it’s also based on the parts of their story that their developer has already shared. Don’t worry, we’re not spoiling those stories here.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

This year's edition of Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, promises to be a huge departure for the series. To be clear, players objectives for the most part remain the same. Players will still be tasked with killing the enemy as fast as they can. That being said, Sledgehammer, the game’s developer, has put its own stamp on the franchise.

This year’s game will come loaded with strange new gadgets. There’s a new directed energy weapon for when you really need to take down an opponent with just one shot. New weapons will also give players the ability to temporarily see through walls when they need to. This being a game about war from the future, there’s also plenty of outlandish flying vehicles and exoskeletons that gives players the ability to climb walls and super strength.
