7 Xbox One Games to Get Excited for in 2015

Published

on

Microsoft has spent the better part of this year building up the strength of its Xbox One portfolio. Like a muscle that needs to be toned and messaged, the Xbox One we have today is a stronger, better console than it was a year ago. Software updates have added crucial features to the console. Price cuts and promotional holiday offerings have made the Xbox One reasonably priced. We’re talking just $349 this holiday season instead of the $499 buyers paid last year.

With an offering this robust a lot of shoppers are expected to pick up an Xbox One this holiday season. For now, there are plenty of games to play. Microsoft’s own Halo: The Master Chief Collection is probably the best deal in games we’ll ever see. Blockbuster titles like Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare are all great games that users can purchase this year. Next year, there will be a huge cache of Xbox One games to play too.

Here are some of the great Xbox One games you can expect to arrive sometime in 2015.

Battlefield: Hardline

Chances are that if you’re playing a first-person shooter, there’s a military theme to it. Either you’re saving the world from terrorism or trying to stop an alien race from destroying humanity. Battlefield Hardline throws all of that out the window for another well-used trope: cop drama.

In Battlefield Hardline’s multiplayer users will play as either a member of law enforcement or a criminal. Electronic Arts and developer Visceral Games ae promising the game’s single player campaign will be a “Straight TV crime drama.”

Gadgets, cars and weapons will all be big factors in the Battlefield Hardline experience. Battlefield Hardline will join other Xbox One games on store shelves on March 17.

Screamride

Launching March 3rd, Screamride is another theme park and amusement game from the same developer that produced Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 for PCs and Zoo Tycoon for the Xbox One. Using scenery and track pieces, Screamride players will be able to construct their own roller coasters and other rides directly on the console.  After creating a thrill ride users will be able to use them to do as much damage as possible or even experience them for themselves by riding them.

Screamride won’t have multiplayer like most other Xbox One games. That being said, it should be a nice family-friendly game to add to any Xbox One games collection.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight is the final game in a long running three part series from Rocksteady Studios. Players will take on the role as Batman in a sort of sand-box environment with thugs and criminals from Batman’s past and present. That much has been true about every game in the series thus far.

In this game though, Gotham finally comes to the brink of destruction. Scarecrow is already preparing to unleash a toxic bomb on the citizens of Gotham. In trying to stop Scarecrow Batman must also contend with a bigger Gotham City and a totally new enemy called the Arkham Knight. The Arkham Knight seems to have taken some inspiration from Batman himself.

Gliding is big in this game, but there’s also the new Batmobile. It’s equipped with guns, rockets, a turbo get engine and an autopilot that allows Batman to call on it when it’s needed the most.

Batman: Arkham Knight launches on June 2nd on the Xbox One.

Ori and the Blind Forest

Xbox One games come in all sizes and are inspired by a lot of different things. Many of the bigger budget Xbox One games are first-person shooters. Ori and The Blind Forest is a digital Xbox One game that’s receiving as much attention as some mainstream commercial games. In Ori and The Blind Forest gamers will play as a spirit in search of its adopted mother.

As it’s a platformer, initially there will be a lot of jumping. Overtime players will pick up new skills. The artwork of Ori seems almost hand-drawn. It’s a beautiful game. That the developers have confirmed they’re going for single player that feels magical seems really appropriate.

Ori and the Blind Forest will launch on the Xbox One and Windows PCs in 2015. Microsoft has an Xbox 360 version planned. There’s no telling when it’ll arrive though.

Tom Clancy’s The Division

The Division

Developer Ubisoft entertainment is hoping that users will appreciate a different kind of survival horror game when The Division arrives. Built exclusively for the Xbox One, PS4 and PCs, The Division players follow along as a member of the Strategic Homeland Division. It’s this group of soldiers that must defend what remains of New York City after a disease causes society to collapse. Players fight against each other and in-game characters.

We don’t yet know exactly when The Division will arrive on store shelves, just that it should be available this year.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Fans can't stand The Rise of Tomb Raider Xbox One exclusive, but the wording offers hope.

Announced as a holiday 2015 game, Rise of the Tomb Raider is the game that follows the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. In this game, series protagonist Laura Croft will use the skills she picked up trying to survive on the last game around the world in different cities. That’s really all we know about the game. It’ll make its debut on the Xbox One in 2015. Whether it’ll be available on the PS4 or anywhere else soon after that remains unclear.

Halo 5: The Guardians

Halo 5: The Guardians isn’t the first Halo game to come to the Xbox One games library. This year’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes four previous games and their complete multiplayer experience. Halo 5: The Guardians will be the first Halo game created specifically for the Xbox One though.

We don’t yet know much about the game’s story. 343 Industries, the game’s developer will provide a Halo 5 multiplayer beta late in December though. We already know that players will get some new abilities like ground pound for defensive and offensive purposes. Some will have directional jets that make it easy for players to maneuver.

Halo 5: The Guardians will launch sometime in 2015, most likely November.

It’s definitely going to be a busy year for Xbox One games.

I’m shocked that Quantum Break isn’t included here.

Ditto, silly to include BF Hardline while excluding Quantum Break. Also, isn’t PS4 the lead platform on Batman.

You know there are exclusives other than halo you could have named those instead of all the multiplats waste of an article

That’s a sad lineup for 2015 most are Multiplat but 3 with Halo the only big exclusive title the roller Coaster gm may be fun but will not sell on the X11 it’ll be like half the wk 1 sales of Sunset or Forza Horizon 2 which is not good at all and Ori will be hyped but it to will not sell it’s no more than a indie type game that X1 gamers complain so much about. Quantum is a 2016 game. Enjoy.

Yeah, Quantum Break is actually 2015 as of right now. Not sure where you got your info but it’s wrong.

“Built exclusively for the Xbox One, PS4 and PCs,”

I don’t think you understand the meaning of that word “exclusive.”

Wait, Fable Legends is a 2015 game too. That should be here as well.
