9 Amazing Halo 5 Forge Creations

Published

on

With its Halo series, video game developer Bungie was among the first to grasp just how powerful user-made content could be. The Forge from Halo 3 was a hobbyist’s dream, letting them create maps and more with their console. Halo 5: Guardians, the latest game in the first-person shooter franchise, didn’t get its Forge Mode until after it’d already launched. Developed by 343 Industries, the Forge Mode in this latest edition of the Halo saga has tools that are more powerful, more precise and more robust than anything provided for previous versions of the game.

Halo 5 Forge gives users the tools they need to create the things they’ve always dreamed off, without it having to be sanctioned by Microsoft or 343 Industries. We’ve collected some of the more impressive Forge creations to debut, along with videos of them in action.

Halo 5

Though Halo 5 Forge is powerful, the tools that 343 Industries gives users to browse and collect them are pretty poor and unintuitive. To get these maps you’ll need to follow the creator of that map over Xbox Live, then look at their service record in the Friends menu to get your hands on their creations.

Pillar of Autumn

For those anxious to relive their glory days in Halo: Combat Evolved, there’s Pillar of Autumn. The ship, which has a nearly complete interior sits perched on an icy landscape. Inside are all the things that users will recognize from their previous time on the Autumn, including Cortana’s Holotank before she was handed over to Master Chief John 117.

To find this map, you need to friend ManBrian and browse his stash of Map Variants.

Alien Invasion

Alien Invasion is one of those things that you have to admire, even if you can’t fully appreciate it. The title isn’t a joke, it’s actually an entire game mode that simulates an alien invasion. You can find it by following Forge Labs.

Mombasa Slipspace

Inspired by Halo 3: ODST, a one-time spin-off of Halo 3, Mombasa Slipspace is a recreated city block, complete with cars, snow and atmosphere. The map supports Doubles Slayer and King of the Hill with up to four different players. Follow Sourwaffle to get this map.

Mongoose Sumo

If you’ve ever wanted to duke it out with other Halo 5: Guardians players on a Mongoose, Mongoose Sumo is your map. Everyone drives their Mongoose into the center of the square, getting less points the further that they’re knocked out. Get this Custom Game creation by following Turbtastic.

Pokemon Stadium Griffball

Griffball, is a Halo multiplayer game type that’s been around for years now. The premise is pretty simple, take the bomb and get it to the other team’s goal post to score a point. Lots of creations around the game type use turrets and other extras, but the basic premise is the same. Creator Unsorted Guy took Griffball and set it in a stadium normally reserved for Pokémon battles. Seriously, it’s amazing looking.

Quidditch Arena

Equally a spectacular cross over from another franchise, Qudditch Arena is a Harry Potter fan’s dream. The game is like soccer, but focuses on hoops pursued on sticks and the ability of players to make split-second moves in mid-air.

To get Quidditch arena you’ll need to follow xXHugabearXx and save the Game Mode from his profile within Halo 5: Guardians.

Sandtrap

A map taken directly out of the multiplayer experience from Halo 3, Sandtrap recreates the barren desert and random structures of the original map.

This map is found by following Forge Labs on Xbox Live, then viewing his profile within Halo 5: Guardians.

Dortmund

What would a city in Halo 5: Guardians look like if it was hit by a nuclear disaster? The Dortmund map shows us exactly what such a thing would look like. There’s tons of detail with this map, including hallways with sight lines for attack unsuspected passerby’s. To get Dortmund, you have to follow FD Bad Angel on Xbox Live.

Seaside

343 Industries recently released a massive update to the Forge. With that update came the ability for creators to finally deliver creations based on balls. It was that update that made Griffball a possibility. That same update also made SeaSide possible. Seaside, from Foxy Papa Smurf is a custom game type that lets users play volleyball, complete with an ocean view.

We’ll continue to add more cool Halo 5: Guardians Forge creations as they surface. Remember, to get them you’ll need to follow each creator over Xbox Live using the Gamer Tag provided in the descriptions here. For the best experience, you’ll want to save each creation to your own Xbox Live account instead of Bookmarking it, if you can.

Of course, you need a copy of Halo 5: Guardians to take advantage of any of these maps. A pre-owned copy of the title at GameStop sells for $34.99.
