A tribute to Rob Bushway- Early Apple Tablet rumor monger

Screen shot 2010-01-26 at 11.44.38 AMBack in the early days of technical blogging circa 2005, GottaBeMobile founder, Rob Bushway wrote a little post about this new device from Apple called the Apple tablet.

This post came and went as all Apple tablet rumors do, until a post over at Engadget brought this back into the light of day.  Engadget is doing a “complete history” of this Apple tablet as a prelude to tomorrow’s big announcements.  As part of that history, they dug around the Internet and found Rob’s article over at CutMeLoose.com about a possible Apple tablet.

From Rob’s original post:

I have no less than 5 sources saying an Apple Tablet
announcement is due soon. Or something, as some of
these press people (Apple diehards at that), who
normally cared not about Tablets, and thought it was
all just Microsoft vaporware, are suddenly so
interested in the Tablet PC concept, and asking tons
of questions. Pretty easy to read those tea leaves, so
somethings up.

And the Intel talks are for battery saving Sonoma-like
Powerbook and Tablet tech, I’d heard this 3-4 weeks
ago from 3 sources, and other sources talked as it
just hit WSJ today. Everyone is speculating just ARM
or Embedded hits per iPod or like, but I’d heard more
for Powerbooks…etc.

While this never quite came to fruition, its still added to the mystique of the Apple tablet.

So Rob,we wanted to thank you for being one of the few, the proud, the Apple tablet rumor mongers!

those words in the snippet are actually from my source and what he was reporting back to me. It is actually interesting how much on the mark my source was: PDA like, stripped down OS X, etc. I still believe what he saw was early incarnations of the Apple Tablet, but what was released first was the iPhone / iPod Touch.

so proud to be a significant part of history ;-)

Whoa, my heart skipped a beat before I read the second part of the title!
