Despite the presence of Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates, Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update remains a fixture in the world of Android updates. Last September, Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, an incremental update to its Android operating system. In June, we saw Google push out new Android 4.4 KitKat updates in Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat, bug fixers aimed at alleviating Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems, of which there were (and still are) many. And while several flagship devices have moved to Android 4.4.3 or Android 4.4.4, others are still lingering on Android 4.4.2. Even worse, some devices still haven’t even been upgraded to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Here, we want to take a look at five of the most important Android 4.4.2 KitKat details to emerge in recent days, details that we hope will bring clarity to a situation that is becoming more confusing by the day.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Still Pushing

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, an update that has been pushing out since late April, is still moving out to devices across the globe.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update still hasn’t landed for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 in the United States but it has recently landed for a number of other carriers including several carriers in South America. The update is showing no signs of slowing down and should continue to hit devices as we push deeper into the year.

Aussie carriers Optus, Telstra and Vodafone still have their Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 roll outs listed for release in August or September so users on those carriers, and others, will want to keep an eye out and remain patient.

Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Roll Out Still Live

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update roll out is still very much alive as well. Just yesterday, the company pushed out the AT&T Galaxy S4 mini Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. It’s still not clear what is on board this Android 4.4.2 KitKat update though we suspect that it will feature the same enhancements and fixes that arrived for AT&T’s regular Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Active earlier this year.

As we noted, the update follows in the footsteps of the Galaxy S4 mini Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for Sprint, U.S. Cellular and Verizon, all of which were rolled out several weeks ago.

The arrival of the AT&T Galaxy S4 mini Android 4.4.2 KitKat update could mean that a roll out in other parts of the world, namely Canada, could be close behind. Canadian carrier Rogers is typically not far behind AT&T when it comes to Android software updates and the carrier lists its Galaxy S4 mini Android 4.4 KitKat update as “coming soon.”

The regular old Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update continues to push as well and SamMobile says that it recently landed for some users in Sri Lanka. The update has slowed down considerably but it’s clear that Samsung still has some updates left in the tank.

Today, a new Galaxy Android 4.4.2 KitKat update started rolling out. The update, for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, is now hitting owners of the international variant. The update comes months after it landed for the variant in Korea and it appears that the roll out is currently limited to Galaxy Note 3 Neo users in India.

The update lives up to expectations as it comes with all of the features we’ve seen arrive on other Galaxy Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. That means white status bar, wireless printing support and more.

Samsung’s roll outs are unpredictable and random so it’s no clear where the update will head next. The company’s Android update deployments often take several months to complete so owners of the international Galaxy Note 3 Neo will want to remain patient as Samsung works to push the update out to users around the world.

HTC Pushes Big Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update

Yesterday, HTC finally pushed out a crucial update to the Verizon HTC One Max. The massive smartphone was, until yesterday, lingering on Sense 5.5. Today, the device now has access to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and HTC’s Sense 6 user interface. The device was already running Android 4.4.2 KitKat but this new version delivers the UI that users have been waiting for.

Sense 6 will deliver a brand new look and enhancements to Sense features including BlinkFeed and the camera. Verizon HTC One Max owners that are interested in snagging the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 update will simply want to head into the device’s settings to check for the upgrade. It’s rolling out OTA so it should be available right now.

More Android 4.4.2 KitKat Updates on the Way

There are a number of other Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates that are poised to roll out as well. For instance, Vodafone Australia says that it will be pushing out Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the HTC One X and HTC One SV at some point in the near future as testing is complete.

French carrier SFR is also looking to roll out a number of smaller Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates including upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Samsung Galaxy Express 2, and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. These are just the tip of the iceberg.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat remains a healthy update almost a year after its release and those still on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will certainly want to check in with their carrier to see what kind of progress is being made. In many cases, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update might be just around the corner.
