Android or Condom? Can You Tell Which is a Phone?
We all know that Android phones have long and interesting names, but I bet you didn’t know how much Android smartphone names had in common with condoms.
Yep, if you take a look at Android smartphones for sale on Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T, you might think you’ve wandered into aisle 2 at your local CVS.
While there is no Android Magnum 4G yet, there are plenty of long and hilarious names of Android smartphones that also share their name with a condom brand or product name.
Intercom.io put together a comparison list that will help you figure out the answer to the biting question, “Android or Condom?”
It’s funny, because it’s true. We’ve long laughed at the names of Android devices that get longer and longer as companies try to build sub-brands and set their products apart in a crowded market.
When there is a new Android phone rumored every other day and a new one launching every few weeks, it’s not surprising that marketers are going to great lengths to try to find sexy sounding product names.
I’m willing to bet that the crossover gets even larger if you expand the naming to all adult novelty items. Sprint can’t be the only company with a product called the Epic Touch.
At the very least, we aren’t seeing condoms with names like the Samsung Galaxy s II Epic 4G Touch. With a name like that it’s hard to figure out what the feature is. At least condom names help users figure out what the selling points are in the name.
