Apple Accidentally Teases iPhone 6, but Don’t Get Too Excited

Published

on

Apple’s indicated that some of its mobile apps are optimized for iPhone 6, but that doesn’t mean an all-new iPhone is on the horizon. Industry insiders and analysts don’t expect to see a drastically redesigned iPhone worthy of the iPhone 6 moniker next week. Instead, Apple will likely launch the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C at a media event on September 10th.

iphone_6_optimized-app-storeIn the App Store, descriptions of several apps state that they are optimized for the iPhone 6, rather than the usual iPhone 5 notice. Apps with the ‘optimized for iPhone 5’ notice are designed to take advantage of the newer iPhone’s larger display. A similar notice for an iPhone 6 would hint at a new model with an even larger display. Unfortunately, the iPhone 6 notice appears to be some sort of technical glitch, as The Verge pointed out, that’s mostly affecting App Store descriptions outside of the United States. The iPhone 6 compatibility language can be seen by some users on Apple’s iMovie, Pages and Keynote  apps, as well as on some third-party apps.

iphone-6-itunes-app-storeiPhone history says that we have at least a year to wait before a completely new iPhone. For the past several years Apple’s released new iPhones in a tick-tock pattern. After the original iPhone launched in 2007, Apple followed up with the much-improved iPhone 3G in 2008. The iPhone 3G featured a new back, 3G data speeds, improved headphone jack design, better camera and could run third-party apps at launch. The next year’s iPhone 3GS looked identical, but had faster wireless technology an even better camera and up to 32GB of storage. The iPhone 4 was a complete overhaul in 2010, while 2011’s iPhone 4S was a relatively minor upgrade. The iPhone 5 was the most exhaustive iPhone redesign yet, complete with a larger display, 4G LTE wireless technology, 8MP camera and new Lightning connector.

iPhone accessory manufacturers are indicating the iPhone 5S will fit inside of iPhone 5 cases in online store updates. The iPhone 5C will likely feature the same screen dimensions as the iPhone 5S, though its plastic back will likely have different dimensions.

There are rumors swirling around that Apple is exploring the possibility of launching a new iPhone with a display as large as six inches, but such a drastic redesign isn’t expected until at least 2014.

apple is better than android end of. its because android phones are cheap and flimsy – apple products are superior.

Your statement shows how entrapped you are to your Apple’s ecosystem (much like how closed apples operating system is). I would have to change what you said to make even one thing remotely true. iOS (comparing apple to Android is comparing a company to a software) is more optimized than android. iOS is also much more mature, but considering android’s progress, I can’t say that it will be any of the above for much longer. My Nexus4 beats my woman’s iPhone in getting GPS locks, cold booting, WiFi speeds and 4G (HSDPA+) by enough to make me gloat whenever I get the chance. So next time you come to a tech site, please get your meds and your facts somewhere remotely factual, and most importantly, please, refrain from bleating.

You read? Read what? One sided apple biased articles? Come on, if your gonna come on a tech site and bash android, at least know what your talking about. Your so used to the lies apple feeds you they are flowing through your thoughts and fingertips.

No one uses android anymore? Are you not aware that more android devices are being sold than iPhones 52% to 43%? (other OS’s are the missing percentage) I was comparing current generations (nexus 4 to iPhone5), however when the 5s comes out, I’ll already have my Note 3 (already preordered with a arrival date of Oct 1), so that’s what I’ll be comparing the 5s to. Really I doubt it’ll be a fair comparison. Oh and on the cheap nexus comment, you REALLY need to do your research, it costs more to make the nexus than the iPhone 5, but yet the iPhone costs more to purchase? You know, your turn, your only embarrassing iPhone fans, but I’m enjoying it.

you’re right it wont be a fair comparison because the iphone 5s is newer and faster than a samdung note. yes it costs more to purchase because of the superior build quality – you pay for what you get.

You have no clue do you…. The Samsung Note 3 was just announced a couple of days ago. And superior build quality? There are plenty android handsets that do much better and are leaps and bounds better in terms of build quality. HTC one to name one. My nexus to name another. Your really showing your ignorance here. But enough with the troll feeding, isn’t it your bedtime?

I have had a iPhone from day one. And you are so damn right. iPhone Died with Jobs.

Yes I read the article when it first came out, I visit this site quite often. However you must be related the the guy that wrote the article, most of it is contradicting and rubbish. He never says android is dead, but android as we know it. You can say the same about Apple. With the upcoming iOS 7, iOS as we know it is dead.

My nexus is still intact and without flaw. The iPhone 4 and 4s had these same problems. Glass for the back of a phone isn’t the best decision, and I would have thought people would have learned from apples obvious mistake, but everyone wants the premium feel over the safe plastics that withstand bumps and bruises. I can list plenty of articles of the iphone 4 glass breaking from a 3ft fall and the metal back getting scratched beyond acceptable on the 5. The iPhone my wife had was replaced because the screen cracked from a fall and it was in an otter box. No device is stupid proof, not even your loved iPhone.

      09/17/2013 at 4:36 pm

Wait, you mean, the plastics that crack and break easier than the aluminum iPhone 5 and 5s? Oh. Okay. LOL

To answer seriously, my dad had an iphone 4 in an otterbox and left it on top of the car (yeah…) and drove off. Down the highway. So here he is going 60mph and the thing flies off and hits the ground. He stops and goes to get it and the case is completely destroyed, and his phone is cracked (I assume both plates) and he picked it up and it still worked. The phone was still whole. I have no doubt that if it wasn’t in an otterbox it would have been obliterated probably. But if your wife dropped it and it was in an otterbox and it cracked? I don’t know what the hell you’re doing then. Because a plastic phone would not have survived what my dad’s iPhone did. There’s a comparison test of the iPhone 5 the Galaxy S4. A drop test from multiple heights onto rough pavement. The iPhone suffers some scratches around the edges. The Galaxy S4’s screen cracks completely and the body scratches and nicks and everything. Towards the end, the iPhone gets a fracture in the screen and the glass in the top part of the iPhone 5 cracks. He even runs the damn phone over and it’s still in better shape than the Galaxy S4. Again, I don’t know what your wife did if she dropped it WITH the otterbox. Sounds sketchty to me…… Yes no phone is “stupid proof.” But don’t say that a plastic case is stronger than an aluminum case. When it comes down to it, you’ll be replacing your S4 before your iPhone 5 if you were to drop either one. I have a thin plastic clear case on my iPhone 5 and it has survived multiple drops on multiple surfaces without a single scratch or crack. So….

      Your comparison proof right here:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRQkH1GHJ3Y

Don’t expect me to respond after this because I could care less about the age old iphone vs android phone argument. I prefer iPhone. But I like to point out when people are wrong.

Let me say that again. I PREFER iPhone. Someone else prefer’s an S4. Okay. Big deal. Preferences. Who. Cares. I am a fan of technology. There are no teams. No sides. TO each their own. Seriously. Who gives a shit.

Yes, Dean’s first post about iPhone being superior is definitely brain washed-ish. Completely biased. But if you watch that comparison video, he’s sort of right about being “cheap” Galaxy phones are made cheap to be sold cheaper to compete with the market. But now Apple is starting the “c” line with their iPhone 5c to compete with the cheaper smartphone market.

I sure hope the iPhone 6 (due in 2014) will have a 5.7 to 6 inch display.

If not, I will have to say “Hello Samsung Galaxy Note 3”. A 5 inch iPhone will not cut it when larger screen sizes are available with more features and good battery life.

It is sad that Apple is loosing market share to a whole middle aged demographic.

Last chance Apple…..the little people will loose patience.
