Apple Store Is Down, New iPhones Incoming

Published

on

As expected, the Apple Store has gone down just hours before the company’s event where it’s expected to announce the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and possibly some new MacBook Pros with the new Intel Haswell chip inside.

Of course, it’s never a surprise when the Apple Store goes down before an Apple event, but it does confirm that, indeed, we should be seeing some new hardware from the company, and they’re updating the website as we speak to put all the new goodies on display.

We know what will most likely be announced today, with the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C being the two headliners, but we’re curious as to what else Apple will trot out. Rumors of refreshed MacBook Pros have been going around, but they haven’t been quite as prominent as the iPhone rumors. It certainly makes sense to see updated MacBook Pros, given that Intel Haswell chips just came out, and 802.11ac only needs to be implemented into the Pro lineup.

Speaking of 802.11ac, it’s also possible that the AirPort Express could see a quiet update to 802.11ac to match the AirPort Extreme, which was refreshed earlier this year. We haven’t heard a lot of chatter about the AirPort Express, so if it does get refreshed, Apple may only quietly update it in the Apple Store, with a possible short mention during the event.

Apple is expected to officially launch the iPhone 5S and 5C on September 20, as we’ve received word from several carrier sources that September 20 is indeed the day. Apple’s storefront will most likely go back up after the keynote is wrapped up, at which point you’ll be able to take a closer at all the new stuff the company announced.

As always, we’ll be bringing all the latest happenings to you live, and we’ll be covering the event from start to finish, so if you’re wanting to stay up to date on all the Apple news today, you’re already at the right place; don’t move a muscle!
