Before Origins’ release in 2017, a new Assassin’s Creed had not launched since 2015. Origins sold millions of copies, and Ubisoft hopes to keep players interested in the franchise by slowly releasing new content through 2018. Upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC will add new areas to the game’s already huge map, character upgrades, weapons and increase the game’s maximum character level.

Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC is divided into free and paid content. Everyone that buys a copy of the game gets the free DLC as a game update. Only gamers willing to spend money on more than just the base game get access to the paid content.

What Paid Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC is Coming

The first major piece Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC is called The Hidden Ones, and it launches on January 23rd. Ubisoft will raise the game’s character level cap when this add-on launches and add an all-new region for gamers to explore after they’ve finished the rest of the game’s story. The Hidden Ones’ story features a huge clash between the Romans and the Assassin Order.

Another large expansion to Assassin’s Creed Origins launches on March 6th. It’s called The Curse of the Pharaohs, and players can explore Egypt’s monuments in it. A curse has brought Egypt’s worst monsters to life and players must stop them. All told, it sounds very similar to the Trials of the Gods events that Ubisoft adds to the game each month. Expect another character level cap increase and new skills for Bayek when The Curse of the Pharaohs launches.

All the Free Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC Coming

There’s a lot of free Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC still coming too.

Ubisoft adds Trials of the Gods timed events to Assassin’s Creed Origins every month. Defeat each god and you get special armor that you can’t get anywhere else.  The studio sometimes replays these events so that players that didn’t claim their gear the first time have another opportunity to do so.

The Discovery Tour expansion will let players turn Assassin’s Creed Origins into an interactive guide to Ancient Egypt. In this mode, the game’s missions and enemies are gone, making it easier to appreciate Egypt’s monuments and details. This expansion launches on September 20th for free. Ubisoft is also turning it into a standalone experience that doesn’t require the base game for $19.99.

Finally, there’s Assassin’s Creed Origin’s Horde Mode. We only know that it will launch sometime in 2018 on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PCs. It will drop players into an all-new combat mode designed to see how long they can last.

Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC Price

The Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC price depends on how you purchased the game.

If you have Gold Edition or Gold Steelbook Edition, you get the paid content at no extra charge. That’s because they both come with the Assassin’s Creed Origins Season Pass. Technically, you’ve already paid for them.

Everyone else has two options. You can buy the season pass for $39.99 or purchase each new piece of content as it launches. If you really liked the base game, definitely go with the season pass. Just one of the game’s expansions costs $19.99 on its own.
