Asus Eee Pad MeMO Hands-On Video

There were a bunch of Android tablets announced at this year’s CES, one that stood out was the new 7-inch Asus Eee Pad MeMO. And while the tablet isn’t set to launch until an unannounced date in the second quarter, we were able to go hands-on with it today to see what it’s all about.

Overall, we came away very impressed with Asus’ offering. It’s essentially everything one would want from an Android tablet as it offers quality specifications without the ridiculous price.

The Eee Pad MeMO features a high-definition 7-inch display with 1280×800 resolution that provided great contrast and color, a speedy Tegra 3 quad-core processor that handled everything we threw at it, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box that we immediately fell in love with, and a $250 price tag that puts in in striking distance of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble’s Nook Tablet.

 

On the back, the tablet has a 5MP camera and on the front there is a 2MP camera that will be useful for video chatting. Both performed well enough.

And even though it has a low price point, the Eee Pad MeMO doesn’t feel cheap and we, from the short time that we spent with it, enjoyed the design aesthetics which included a plastic backing and metal along the edges.

It’s also light enough to hold comfortably with one hand.

The Eee Pad MeMO is certainly a tablet to keep an eye on if you’re looking for a fully-featured Android tablet that isn’t going to drain your bank account.
