While other manufacturers like Samsung and HTC have yet to roll out Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates for their older devices, Asus has now announced its second Android 4.2 roll out. The latest Jelly Bean update is for the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity which will be receiving its Android 4.2 update starting today.

Earlier in the year, Asus continued its trend of beating the Verizon Galaxy Nexus to major Android updates. While the Verizon Galaxy Nexus toiled on Android 4.1, Asus quickly updated its Transformer Pad 300 to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, becoming one of the first devices to tout the brand new mobile software from Google.

Since then, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has received its Android 4.2 update but many other devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have not. Today though, Asus added another device to the Android 4.2 list as it has announced that the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is rolling out today.

The company shared the good news on its Facebook page and it says that the update is rolling out to Transformer Pad Infinity owners today. It makes no mention of how long the update will take but we imagine that at least some owners will be able to head into the device’s settings and snag an upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is going to be a big boost for owners of the Transformer Pad Infinity as it brings a number of likeable features to the table. One in particular is the Multiple User accounts feature that will allow owners to put multiple accounts on the tablet, each having its own home screens and apps.

That’s not all either. The update also brings a gesture-enhanced keyboard, more Google Now functionality, lock screen widgets, Quick Settings and even a new screen saver called Daydream.

It’s not as big as an Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update but it’s certainly a good one nonetheless.

Jeff…the update was downloading by itself as I was reading this article. I was one of the lucky ones to get it on the 1st day of release. Hang tight. ASUS hasn’t let us down like the cell phone providers.

Yes, glad Asus is fast with the updates. Downside is, there are bugs. Mine crashes about once/hour after the update. I dont particularly enjoy the full screen task switcher (but that’s google) but I’m glad the taskbar stays the same (home btn on the left, clock on the right)
