After aggressively slashing prices on its individual and Mobile Share plans recently, AT&T is now back at it again to deliver added value to small business subscribers. California small business users on a Mobile Share Value plan from AT&T can now add a free Uverse high speed Internet connection to their businesses, resulting in a savings of up to $420 for the year.
New and existing small business customers on a Mobile Share Value plan with 10 GB of data or higher can take part on this offer. As part of the promotion, AT&T will either give small businesses a Uverse Internet line for their office space with up to 6 Mbps download speeds for free for 12 months, or provide a $35 discount for customers needing even faster download speeds for Uverse connection plans up to 45 Mbps.
The promotion is good for California small business owners in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, San Diego, Bakersfield, Long Beach, Modesto, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Fresno, Visalia, Sacramento, and Stockton. The deal is valid through April 30, 2014.
Though increasingly users are becoming more mobile, there is still a lot of benefit to having a fixed Internet connection in a small business. Customers can connect to the Uverse Internet connection via WiFi to get their smartphones and tablets online without having to worry about data overages and monitoring how much data they are consuming over a more expensive 4G LTE or 3G connection.
Additionally, while the move may seem gratuitously charitable by AT&T, the Rethink Possible network also benefits by providing customers with free Uverse connections, which can translate into free WiFi access for small businesses, as it alleviates some of the strain on AT&T’s more valuable mobile networks.
By offloading heavy traffic–especially for consuming videos, uploading photos, or casual web browsing–AT&T is moving the data strain from its 4G LTE network to its Uverse connection. The result is that 4G LTE will become faster and more reliable when it’s not congested for people who absolutely must use the mobile broadband connection as they’re no where within WiFi range.
