AT&T Galaxy Note Jelly Bean Update Now Available

Published

on

Finally, after many weeks of waiting, the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has arrived with it seemingly becoming available, rather quietly, through Samsung Kies today.

Just a short time ago, we reported that the update seemed destined for an arrival in May. Rogers, a Canadian carrier, suggested that its update would be coming this month and AT&T, in the past, has seen its Samsung Android updates lineup with Rogers’ updates. Turns out, AT&T actually has beaten Rogers to the punch as the AT&T Galaxy Note Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is indeed available to owners looking to jump from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Samsung has posted the update (for some it may say Page Not Found, we believe this to be because Samsung is propagating the site) to its website which means that owners should be able to upgrade their device through Samsung Kies. Samsung Kies requires owners to plug their device into the PC in order to upgrade. AT&T says that the update is rolling out starting tomorrow, May 3rd, but we’ve heard of people already pulling it through Kies. So it’s definitely worth a try today.

At the very least, the update should be available through Samsung Kies for all users willing to go through the process. It’s possible that it may wind up being the only process that enables Android 4.1 to replace Android 4.0.

Owners should try to update through Samsung Kies, not OTA.

The arrival comes shortly after we pegged the update for May and it comes several months after the international Galaxy Note received its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

On board this new software will be a host of new features for Galaxy Note owners, breathing new life into a device that is just over a year old now. Included will be the features of Jelly Bean, including a smoother UI, improved Google core applications, and better multitasking and widgets and owners should also be upgraded with some other big time features from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

This has been a long wait for AT&T owners and finally, the wait is over. Now, attention will be turned to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, an update that is supposedly going to be coming to the original Galaxy Note at some point down the road.

I had that message earlier as well until I tried at 11pm, then to my surprise the update was there waiting for me.

Ok so the update is finished, but no Multi window or Quick command, S Memo is gone too. The latter, I don’t care about but so are the notes that I backed up on Kies (it’s greyed out). 4.1 (4.1.2) this was the first major update and they couldn’t give us everything. For that, I miss Apple, at least the next phone got ALL the software features.

Yea S Memo is retired and you will only have S Notes, I backed mine up in Kies, but after I updated to Jellybean, I couldn’t restore S Memo. So I suggest you manually copy your memos over to S Note.

Hmmm… my S-Memos were converted automatically into S-Notes the first time I opened up S-Note. I can edit them and everything.

Tried twice to update via Kies and nothing. Why isn’t this update OTA? Forget it. I’m getting the HTC One.
