Lenovo Miix 630 2-in-1
With its good looks, stunning battery life and always-connected internet access, consider the Lenovo Miix 630 2-in-1 instead of a Surface Pro.
Launched in mid-2018, the Miix 630 2-in-1 has a smartphone processor for a brain and Microsoft's Windows 10 S operating system installed. Because of that Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, you get up to 20 hours of battery life. Compare that to the 13.5 hours of video a Surface Pro 6 lasts through. Windows 10 S limits what you can install to apps from the Windows Store, but you can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free if you find that too limiting.
The Lenovo Miix 630 2-in-1 drops some legacy ports and features for newer standards. The USB Type-C port doubles as its charging port and only option for connecting extra accessories with a cable. Boost storage with the MicroSD card slot if you fill the tablet's 256GB of built-in storage. The Miix 630 doesn't have an Ethernet port. However, it does support Wi-Fi and LTE data. Use the LTE connectivity to browse the internet away from home without a Wi-Fi hotspot.
This Windows 2-in-1 best the Surface Pro in another way. It has a 13-megapixel camera instead of the 8-megapixel camera that's in the Surface Pro. So, if you are someone that takes photos with your tablet, this is the better device for your needs. The front-facing camera lets you sign into Windows 10 without typing your password.
Do expect videos to look less crisp on the Miix 630 than the Surface Pro 6. The Miix 630 has a 1,920 x 1,280 12.3-inch display. That's way less detailed than the 2,736 x 1,824 12.3-inch display on Microsoft's tablet. The screen detects 1,024 different levels of pressure as you write or draw with Lenovo's digital pen.
When you buy the tablet, you get a backlit keyboard cover and the digital pen.
