on

This is what you need to know about the Call of Duty: WWII release date that arrives tonight, the newest Call of Duty: WWII editions, create-a-class changes for Call of Duty: WWII, the latest on midnight release events, how to fix Call of Duty: WWII problems and the size of the day one patch that you will need to install before you can play.

After years of fast advanced movement and jet packs, Call of Duty is going back to World War II. There is no unlimited sprinting and while you can still slide or dive, you cannot double jump or pull off the moves that defined Call of Duty for the last three years. It’s time to get the squad back together according to the latest Call of Duty: WWII ad.

The Call of Duty: WWII release date is almost here and we know a lot about the new 2017 Call of Duty game thanks to Activision’s announcements, product listings, and many videos. You can pre-order Call of Duty: WWII, but there are still some reasons to wait.

We’ll cover the Call of Duty: WWII release date, the Call of Duty 2017 setting and a major change from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare that could bring some fans back into the fold after spending a year playing Battlefield 1.

What We Know About Call of Duty: WWII

After a very rough year with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Activision is rotating back to Sledgehammer Games and focusing on the roots of Call of Duty. This means boots on the ground combat that many long-time Call of Duty gamers are longing for.

  • Call of Duty: WWII Release Date: November 3, 2017
  • Call of Duty: WWII Day One Patch: 9.45GB
  • Call of Duty 2017 Setting: WWII
  • Call of Duty: WWII Systems: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Here is a look at what we know about Call of Duty: WWII and what you’ll experience this fall when Call of Duty goes back to boots on the ground combat in WWII..

Call of Duty: WWII Release Date

The Call of Duty: WWII release date is set in stone.

The Call of Duty: WWII release date is set in stone.

The Call of Duty: WWII release date is on Friday, November 3rd.

There are a number of Call of Duty: WWII pre-order options available including bonus items. You can buy the game on disc or digitally.

Unlike many EA games this fall, you don’t need to buy a special edition to play early on Friday November 3rd. The Xbox One X release date is November 7th, so you might want to plan on re-installing the game then.

There is a day one Call of Duty: WWII patch that is 9.45GB on the PS4, which will update your version to 1.02 and another that bumps you to 1.03.

Call of Duty: WWII Release Time

The Call of Duty: WWII release time in the U.S. is 12:01 AM Eastern. This is when the digital copies are playable and when you can buy the game at a retailer for a midnight event.

If you are in another time zone in the U.S., you don’t need to wait until midnight local time. For example, the game goes live at 9 PM Pacific on November 2nd. This allows everyone in the U.S. to play at the same time.

Midnight Call of Duty: WWII Release Date Events

If you want to play right at midnight, you can buy Call of Duty: WWII digitally. This allows you to pre-load Call of Duty: WWII right now. This will let you play at 12:01 AM Eastern on November 3rd, or 9 PM Pacific on November 2nd.

Best Buy plans midnight Call of Duty: WWII release date events at a number of stores. You can check this out to see if your store plans to be open late. Typically we see GameStop open late for a midnight Call of Duty release date event, but there is no confirmation yet.

When you get home, you will need to install a day one update.

Call of Duty: WWII Gameplay

We continue to see a lot of Call of Duty: WWII gameplay from YouTubers who were able to play at E3 and new information coming out in July and August ahead of the Call of Duty: WWII beta. Above you can see some Call of Duty: WWII gameplay and see more about the different types of weapons that you will be able to use.

The Call of Duty: WWII campaign will set you in a group of soldiers as you take on challenges torn from the pages of history. Activision describes this as, “Experience the story of the unbreakable brotherhood of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny.”

We’ve learned that the campaign will put you in the boots of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels, a 19 year old signed up for World War 2. You’ve left a girl at home, and you want to survive to get back to her. You are playing in the Pacific Theater in 1944 and 1945. You must rely on your squad, because there is no health regen or free ammo. Instead your squad will need to fix you up and share ammo. You will play as the U.S. Army, British Special forces and French Resistance fighters. There will be swastikas in the campaign mode, but no other modes. So far Game Informer confirms that you can play in Normandy, Operation Cobra, Train, Marigny, The Wolf’s Den, Aachen (Germany), Hurtgen Forest, Hill 493

In addition to going back to boots on the ground, it is likely that you will see the return of Pro Perks, at least based on one new change to Call of Duty multiplayer. Michael Condrey, of Sledgehammer games, confirmed that there is no unlimited sprint in Call of Duty: WWII.

You’ll also experience boots on the ground multiplayer that includes, “fast-paced combat across many of World War II’s most iconic locations.” Activision teases new ways to interact and socialize. There is also a special Co-Op game mode that offers a standalone gameplay experience that you can share with friends. There are no attack dogs in Call of Duty: WWII.

Call of Duty: WWII Setting

We know the Call of Duty 2017 setting, finally. This is a key piece of information that Activision confirmed with the announcement of the Call of Duty: WWII name and that we are seeing on game boxes on Amazon. Although rumors originally pointed to Vietnam, Call of Duty 2017 is going to WWII.

The Call of Duty: WWII video above walks through the historical connections and outlines some of the vehicles and weapons that will be in the new Call of Duty game this year.

During a Facebook Live event Sledgehammer Games outlined that you will play the Battle of the Bulge. We learn that there are women characters in single player and multiplayer, which will be historically accurate. This means you can expect to see the French resistance in the game. We didn’t learn about health regeneration or if you will play any missions as the Axis in the campaign mode.

We’ll need to wait for more information to see Call of Duty 2017 features that depend on the settings and what the gameplay is like.

Call of Duty: WWII Xbox One X Enhanced & PS4 Pro Details

We know that the Call of Duty: WWII PS4 release will look better on the PS4 Pro and will support HDR on the PS4 as well. The beta already looks better on the PS4 Pro and there is HDR support according to players.

There is a Call of Duty: WWII Xbox One X Enhanced version that you can play if you buy the Xbox One X next week. We don’t know all of the details, but it is listed as coming.

Call of Duty: WWII PS4 Exclusives

You can count on timed PS4 exclusives again with the new Call of Duty: WWII DLC.

The PS4 Call of Duty WWII box shows the Play Early logo with early access to the Call of Duty: WW2 DLC and this is mentioned multiple times throughout the Call of Duty: WWII webpages. This is something we’ve seen for the last several years and it means 30 days early access to the new Call of Duty DLC. It’s a reason to buy the Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass on PS4.

Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass: 4 Reasons to Buy & 2 to Wait

Buy if Call of Duty: WWII is Still Your Go to Game

Is Call of Duty: WWII your game? If you are sticking with Call of Duty while half the population jumps to Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG, this is a good investment.

This is still the go to boots on the ground version of Call of Duty, and even with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on the way it makes sense to buy the Season Pass if you will play Call of Duty: WWII for most of 2018 and into 2019.

If you think you will buy all of the maps because you loved the first 8 months of Call of Duty: WWII or because you like the direction the game is going with each update, you should buy the Season Pass.

For gamers who are planning to play Call of Duty: WWII for a year, it doesn't make sense to wait and buy the DLC separately or even to skip one or two of them since that will limit the matchmaking as you get split into a smaller and smaller pool.

You save $10 over buying the DLC individually, you get a bonus and you may still need to wait a long time for a deal.
