Common Sense Prevails: Microsoft Renames Windows Phone 7 Series to Windows Phone 7

Published

Will wonders never cease? Someone had Microsoft finally got some common sense flowing. Microsoft is dropping the series from Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series and its now simply Windows Phone 7. Of course that or Phone 7 is what most folks had taken to calling it anyway, so the naming nannies finally capitulated.

Microsoft of late has seemed to want to break its arcane naming conventions (Remember 2007 Microsoft Office system with a small ‘s’) but the early moniker for the new Windows Mobile hearkened back to the old days. Here’s hoping common sense in naming products will continue.

Thank goodness for small miracles. Still odd to continue the old numbering when doing a brand refresh, but that part is tolerable.

At least they cut an unneeded word out of the name.

However, that still doesn’t make up for all the things taken away from Windows Mobile as we know it.
