EA Access Madden 15 Release Date Confirmed with a Catch

Published

on

The EA Access Madden 15 release date is confirmed for this week delivering five days of early access to Madden 15 to users with an Xbox One and a subscription, but it comes with a huge catch.

This is as close to a Madden 15 demo as you’ll get this year as EA is offering the full Madden 15 game early on EA Access instead of just parts of it for a demo.

There is a catch. The EA Access Madden 15 release is limited to six hours of game play. It’s not clear if that is time spent playing actual Madden 15 games or if time spent in Madden Ultimate Team or the Gauntlet will also count.

While EA did not offer a specific time, the EA Access Madden 15 release date arrives on August 21st, five days before the new Madden release date lands in stores.

We’ve reached out to EA to ask what time EA Access members can download Madden 15 on the 21st. Odds are good that the time is 12:01 AM Pacific like most digital launches on the Xbox One, but there is a chance that EA will shift this to a different time. This is the first EA Access game to offer early access to a full game on the Xbox One.

To use EA Access to play Madden 15 early you need an Xbox One, EA Access Hub and to subscribe to EA Access for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. You can pay with a credit card or PayPal, but EA will not accept any Xbox credit that you may have on your account, despite being tied into Xbox and Xbox Live. The subscription auto renews and is non-refundable.

An EA Access subscription includes early access to Madden 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15 and other EA games. You also get to play four older games including Battlefield 4, Madden 25, FIFA 14 and Peggle 2.

The EA Access Madden 15 download only offers six hours of game play.

Gamers who pay EA for the chance at the early EA Access Madden 15 release also get 10% off digital downloads including full EA games. So you can save about $6 off Madden 15 if you buy it digitally. On Xbox One there is no option to pre-order and so far the Madden 15 Xbox One digital download is missing from the store. There is also no word on the option to buy a digital Madden 15 Ultimate edition on Xbox One.

With the 10% off deal gamers can also save on in-game purchases like Madden Ultimate Team packs, cutting the price slightly. This is a small deal, but it could add up if you buy a lot of in-game content for a better Ultimate Team.

Gamers who still can’t wait to play have a few more days to get in on the Madden 15 deal that cuts the price to $15 with a Madden 25 trade in and a coupon for $10 off a future purchase. This Best Buy Madden 15 deal is the best we’ve seen yet and the store staff now knows how to check users out and provide the $10 coupon. You can get in on this Madden 15 deal through August 23rd.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

This year's edition of Call of Duty, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, promises to be a huge departure for the series. To be clear, players objectives for the most part remain the same. Players will still be tasked with killing the enemy as fast as they can. That being said, Sledgehammer, the game’s developer, has put its own stamp on the franchise.

This year’s game will come loaded with strange new gadgets. There’s a new directed energy weapon for when you really need to take down an opponent with just one shot. New weapons will also give players the ability to temporarily see through walls when they need to. This being a game about war from the future, there’s also plenty of outlandish flying vehicles and exoskeletons that gives players the ability to climb walls and super strength.

Is this six hours lasting from say 12-6 or can you play an hour and have 5 hours left for whenever you want to play?
