If you decide you want to get rid of a companion, you can do that. If you talk to them, you can tell them to leave your side. You'll want to send them to one of your settlements so that they can be found when you need them again. You can take on 12 companions in the game but you can only use one at a time. If you ultimately decide that you don't want a companion running around with you, I highly suggest putting points into the Lone Wanderer perk in the Charisma tree. As you rank it up, your carrying capacity will increase and you'll take less damage. It's essential if you plan on going it alone. | |||||||||
