Fix Horrible iPhone 4S Battery Life With One Setting

Published

on

While we found that the iPhone 4S had good battery life in our review, many users are experiencing bad battery life on the iPhone 4S.

Apple is reportedly baffled at the cause of the iPhone 4S battery life issues, and may be in contact with select user to try to troubleshoot the problems.

The staff at GottaBeMobile share that the iPhone 4S appears to lose juice faster than the iPhone 4, but we are not experiencing the fast battery drain that is plaguing some iPhone 4S users.

Having shared how to make your iPhone 4S battery life last longer, we wanted to follow up with one tip that might solve all of your iPhone 4S battery life woes.

According to iDownload, the easiest solution is to turn off the setting that uses your location to set the time zone on your phone. This setting appears to ask for your location way too often, resulting in faster battery drain while your iPhone is on standby in your pocket.

How to Fix iPhone 4S Battery Drain

1. Go to your iPhone 4S Settings

2. Tap on Location Services

3. Scroll to the bottom and tap on System Services

4. Toggle Setting Time Zone to Off

One Setting May Save Your iPhone 4S Battery Life

5. Enjoy better battery life.

Keep in mind that this means that your iPhone 4S will no longer automatically change the clock when you get to a new time zone. For most users, this won’t be a major issue. If you travel to a new time zone, you will need to toggle the switch back on and off, or manually set your iPhone 4S time zone. You can do this by going to; Settings -> General -> Date & Time – -> Choose your Time Zone.

So far I have been watching my iPhone 4S battery usage with Setting Time Zone to off, and am impressed with the initial results. After turning this switch, I was able to go for 4 hours of standby and 34 minutes of usage without dipping under 93%. Based on my tests, this is about a 1% to 2% drop in battery life per hour on standby. I will have more information on usage after I get through a full day of use with this setting.

If you try this iPhone 4S battery life fix, let us know what your battery life looks like after you change your iPhone 4S Time Zone Setting to off.

Mine is usually on charge hence no battery issues and if I’m out then I don’t use it like I’m at home, just a bit of common sense really. When people are playing around with apps/internet/siri etc then of course the battery will die extremely fast bit like with a new car if you drive it around constantly then don’t expect the fuel to last that long because it is in constant use. A little common sense for some of the people is needed :)

It’s a smartphone I’m going to play with it and use it to get my money’s worth. If I wanted it to be like a new car and just sit there I would of just purchased a basic flip phone.. Duh!!
