Gadget Stimulus Plan Day 8: HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless Printer, Scanner

Published

on

c6380_hpWe’re trying to close your gadget deficit while the economy’s in the dumps with the Gadget Stimulus Plan. Today we’re giving away an HP Photosmart C6380 that can print and scan wirelessly.

The Photosmart C6380 is a really slick device that interacts really well with mobile devices. You can print and scan from any computer on your network, scan documents directly onto a thumb drive and print photos directly from your camera’s memory card. With HP iPrint you can print directly from your iPhone or iPod Touch.

I bought the Photosmart 6380 as a Christmas present for myself and have been very pleased with its features and performance. Since it’s wireless it doesn’t clutter my desk and I really like its dual paper trays. The main tray is big enough for standard letter-sized paper and the smaller one is built especially for the most common photo paper sizes. This means I don’t have to remove and replace paper as often as I used to.

The Photosmart C6380 can scan images at up to 4800dpi optically, or 19200dpi with enhancements. It can print black and white documents at up to 33 pages per minute.

The HP Photosmart C6380 retails for $199.99 and is probably the best value in the Photosmart All-in-One lineup. It’s often on sale for between $129 to $149 from HP, Amazon and other retailers.

There are three ways to enter to win the HP Photosmart C6380 , and you may enter once in each of the three ways.

1) Leave a comment on this article (below) and tell us which devices you’ll use with the Photosmart C6380 and why you want it.
2) Leave a comment on this Notebooks.com article and tell us what kind of frustrations you’re having with your current printer and what your first printing experience was like.
3) Go to Twitter.com and tweet the following:

““I entered to win an HP Photosmart C6380 from the Gadget Stimulus Plan https://tinyurl.com/cg9jjb #GadgetStimulus8 @hpcheer”

Mainly I’d use this printer with my MacBook Pro but as far as mobile devices, the iPhone app may come in handy. At least I wouldn’t need to export the pics from my iPhone before printing, may be useful.

We’d use it with our Macs and PCs on the home network. Currently have separate scanner and printer and everyone has to go to my wife’s PC to scan or print … so this would be a major productivity boon for everyone with her doing so much work from home and the kids having homework and me scanning old pictures and so on.

PC’s on my home network. I like the idea of two paper trays as well as having the built in card slots.

A wireless printer would be sweet; I’d place it on top of the refrigerator so the toddler couldn’t keep ripping the paper out of it and messing with the buttons, ink door, etc.

Wow this is a Wonderful Review & Giveaway~! I have a Canon PowerShot SX10 lS that I would love to use this with because of the memory slot. It’s so hassle free. My current printer is a pain to print photo’s with and I also have a HP pavilion PC that I would use this with. I like that it has two separate paper compartments so I don’t have to keep changing the paper.I do a lot of Photo printing and this would make it so much easier to do. I would also use this with my notebook since it is wireless. Thanks for the great review and having this awesome giveaway. My layoff has put a damper on any spending and this would be a wonderful uplift.

If I were lucky enough to win this I’d use it with my Dell laptop. I need a new one bad. The current printer we have is fine, but there’s no scanner on it and we all know that if your going to school (whether online or on campus) you need a scanner for some of your assignments, for sending the financial aid office some of their much wanted information and so on…I could surely use a printer like this!!!

I would use it with my HP HDX at home, with my HP Slimline at work, or possibly give it away. I can think of a few choice people that could definitely use a new computer.

I do a lot a taking of pictures but almost no printing of them because my old epson is just to expensive for ink and does produce quality.

I would use this with my Linux desktop and especially with my x200 tablet. I’m using a old second-hand HP 5L, and I have no idea when the toner will run out. I’d love to have a scanner, but I haven’t taken the time or budget to get one.

    03/26/2009 at 9:26 am

I’ll use it with my Acer Aspire One and my old (broken down) laptop. I also have 3 other roommates who are in college so they’ll probably want to use it (and I can charge for printer ink. ;-)

Why I want it? Well, I currently have to travel to my brother’s apartment to print things, or go to the library or sneak it at work. And I hate that. I moved from NY to CA, and couldn’t bring everything, like my old printer, even if that printer wasn’t all that great to begin with. I’ve also been searching for a wireless printer for about a month because I don’t want to be tethered to a printer when I want to print many things at a time.

    03/26/2009 at 9:32 am

I would use it with my Gateway notebook. I could really use a new printer especially a wireless one.

this looks like a great solution for me. i work in the television/motion picture industry as a Script Supervisor, and i could have this with me either on set or in the Asst. Director’s trailer. i could use this to print out my continuity pictures, either from my SD card from my digital camera, or my Verizon Dare, as well as send my end of the day report to the Asst Directors from my Motion Computing LE1700 tablet pc. i suspect the AD’s would, the Director and the Director of Photography would want to use it too. :)

thanks for showcasing this device, even if i don’t win, at least i have somewhere to start when i look for a new printer.

Use it to add color printing capability for my wireless network, along with photo printing. Got turned off by host attached inkjets a while ago and switched to a network attached laser (Samsung ML-3051ND) which is fabulous. The kids miss colour for school projects. Would also allow me to ditch my ancient scanner. It terms of computers using it, multiple Dell laptops, Macs, Macbooks, and a couple of Acers… and coming soon a netbook or MID.

I would use this with my Toshiba laptop. I’d like it so I could print in color, scan, and be able to print when my laptop isn’t directly connected to my current printer.

I would use it with my tablet and my ipod touch.

Go figure out why, the printer pluged on my parent’s computer doesn’t want to be share over the network… and trust me I tried pretty much everything. I thought buying a print server, but then never really had the time. Also I don’t know if it’s me or epson is constantly diminishing the quantity of ink in their cartriges! I always have the feeling that I’m paying way too much for so few pages. I think having a wireless printer would save me the time it takes to boot the computer connected to the printer and transfer the file via usb key. It might not sound that much of a problem, but it certainly takes around 5 min.

    03/27/2009 at 10:15 am

I would use this for my laptop and especially for my wife’s laptop. Right now, our printer is downstairs and whenever we want something printed, we have to go down stairs and turn on the computer and load up the document or photo we want to print on the connected desktop and print it.

With this printer we could put it in our bedroom or even the kitchen and print wirelessly from our laptops. My wife has been on my case for over a year to get some sort of solution for her printing, and this would be great.

Thanks for the opportunity to win.

We have an old Dell XPS Dimension desktop and an HP dv7 laptop, and my stepdaughter has an acer laptop. We have 5 kids running around here who always need something printed up (photos, reports, documetns, etc). It would be nice to have one printer linked up to them all. This would save alot of time, money and hassle. Thanks for the review & the giveaway!

Right now I have a stack of old family photos I’d LOVE to scan for digital prints. Heck, I’d just enjoy a reliable printer/scanner for my everyday needs. Mostly I’d use it with my Compaq notebook computer.

I would the printer with my desktop and my laptop to print school papers and any mapquest directions. I want this printer as it has wireless capabilities and plugging in a USB to print anything would be unnecessary.

    03/29/2009 at 5:35 pm

I’d use it with my tablet, daughter’s notebook, desktop. Now, we have to take turns when printing and scanning.

Fantastic giveaway! I would use this on our wireless network with both my laptop and desktop. My fiance would get real kick out of trying his iPod with this! I would love this because it’s got so many great functions and the wireless feature is fabulous. I scan a lot of things for my blog and the fact that I could do this so effortlessly over the network would be really useful. Thanks so much for the chance!

I am changing careers later on in life (was in hi-tech semiconductors and then became a certified wine educator)and working my way up the ladder in the wine sales business for a small specialized importer of only Italian wines. The biz is exhilarating and I love the work. I have a really enviable portfolio and I can sell and talk passionately about wine and wine-food pairing all day (and more than a few nights).

But the owner is a fine old-school gentleman (doesn’t even have email or a corporate website) that pretty much lets his sales people ‘sink or swim’. All I started out with was a cryptic B/W inventory list and I have transformed it into a pretty nice color catalog with multiple sections and specialized sorts to help my customers decision making process easier.

I work out of my house with my trusty Dell dimension 4600 desktop and I have a very limited fixed monthly expense budget that has to cover gas, phone and office supplies and printing costs; my printer is a 5 years old HP that while the quality is nice it is relatively slow and goes thru no small amount of ‘not-so-cheap’ ink cartridges – and my room/PC configuration is such that I have to plug/unplug the usb cable every time I want to print.

So having a newer wireless version that is more efficient with ink and higher performing would save me a nice chunk of time, aggravation and money to help keep me getting more catalogs in customers hands.
