Galaxy Nexus Landscape Dock Arrives in the U.S.

Published

on

A couple of days ago, we learned that Samsung might finally be launching a landscape dock with 3-pin connector, dubbed the Pogo Desktop Dock, for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. And sure enough, today, the accessory has come out of back order and it’s now available to those of you toting the 4G LTE version of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone.

There is a slight problem though and that’s the gadgets price tag. Samsung, as expected, is going to be charging folks $90 for the dock. That’s quite the price tag for a dock of this kind.

As we pointed out, this is a pretty sizable investment into a product whose main purpose is to charge your device. Sure, you can access your applications and play music out of the built-in 3.5mm stereo audio port, but that’s about all it can do.

Most of you will find better things to spend $90 on, we’re sure.

We should point out that Samsung has thrown in free 3-day shipping for the Pogo Desktop Dock which is a little bit of a consolation prize.

So if this is $90, we can only imagine how expensive a car dock might be when it arrives. Surely, it’ll be over a $100.

In any event, there is no telling how long this bad boy is going to be in stock, even with its expensive price tag, so if you’re in the need for a dock for your Galaxy Nexus LTE you’ll want to head on over to Samsung’s website to pick one up.

For $30 I picked up the official Samsung battery charger/phone stand for the Nexus. It even came with an extra (1850 mah) battery. Since I already bought the 2100 mah battery (also for $30,) I now have 3 batteries, a battery charger and a phone stand (that works in portrait and landscape) for $30 less than this stand.

Oh and the cord for the stand is micro-usb so I can unplug the dock and plug it directly into the phone if I don’t feel like swapping batteries (middle of a video call in GTalk or something.)

Yeah, thanks but no thanks Samsung.

$90 for a stand? Major league pass on this one. Amazon has better 3rd party docks for less that do more.
