Galaxy Nexus Volume Issue Could Be Hardware Related

Published

on

Earlier today, we told you about a nasty little volume bug that was plaguing the UK version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which was released just a few days ago on November 17th. We assumed that it had to do with the software and that it would take a simple OTA update to fix. Turns out, it could be worse then we originally thought as you can see from the video below.

As you can see, this is a Galaxy Nexus in its bootloader. And, as you can see, the volume rocker is toggling up and down. See the options scrolling when the guy puts his other phone up next to it? Yeah, that shouldn’t be happening.

So, this definitely leaves open the possibility that hardware, not software has something to do with the volume issues that some Galaxy Nexus owners are seeing.

While phone maker and software provider have remained mum, Clove UK is saying:

We now have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in stock at Clove Technology and will begin shipping orders tomorrow. We are aware that some users that purchased handsets from other outlets last week have reported problems with the volume changing erratically. We have been in touch with Samsung regarding this and have been told that our stock has since been through an additional quality control check and should not have the problem. Nonetheless, we will also be testing several handsets ourselves to check for the problem this evening.

So, it could just be limited to the first handsets that went out.

At this point it’s tough to say what’s going on or if the LTE variant is going to be affected  but hopefully Google or Samsung can clear everything up for current owners and future Galaxy Nexus owners sooner rather than later.

It may actually turn out to be a good thing that Verizon keeps delaying this phone.  Hopefully it’ll be near perfect when it finally does come out.

Name one phone that was released last year that had a Dual Core processor and 1GB of ram.
