Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 Release Date Looks Good for 2013

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has leaked for owners of the international version of Samsung’s recently released 5.5-inch phablet.

SamMobile leaked the Android 4.1.2 Galaxy Note 2 update early today which means that those who own the international version of the Galaxy Note 2 are now able to take the plunge early should they choose to. The update is, of course, a pre-release version of the software which means that those who aren’t well-versed in installing unreleased software should pause and hold off until the final update arrives.

That is expected to take place sometime in December or January though a specific date has not been revealed yet. Samsung hasn’t said anything officially yet either which means that there is a possibility that those target months may not happen.

The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 update has leaked.

What’s clear though is that the update is coming and it’s pretty full of features. Here is a full rundown of what Galaxy Note 2 owners can expect from the upcoming Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.

  • New additions in Notification toggles.
  • Notification Panel can now be customized.
  • Brightness Slider in Notification Panel can be disabled.
  • Multi-View can be disabled.
  • Browser Is smoother.
  • Status Bar has been changed from Grey to Black.
  • Samsung keyboard improvements.
  • New ink effect On lock screen.
  • New Group Cast application.

While it’s not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, it certainly has some interesting features coming along with it. Given that it’s set to roll out at some point in December or January, owners of the Galaxy Note 2 should not expect Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to arrive until 2013. This update is an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update which means that it will come before the Android 4.2 update.

It could be that these features will be baked into Android 4.2 instead but at this point, the leak and a previous rumor seem to point in the opposite direction.

It’s also unclear when or if U.S. carriers will issue this update before Android 4.2 Jelly Bean arrives. Because Android 4.2 is chock full of bugs, it’s possible that U.S. owners will see this update before Android 4.2.

I am tired of reading about the “new” ink effect on the lock screen that this update brings. I HAVE the ink effect from the pen on AT&T’s version, and have had it since day one. Seems when one source states something every other source just repeats without researching. Can’t count the number of sites that said the Note II supported 32 gb. Micro SD cards, when it has always been 64. Not that this blogger said so, but just pointing out how misinformation gets out if hand. Even if materials show the info, a little research goes a long way.

The international version of the note 2 doesn’t have the inking effect.

        Neither does the Sprint version.

the reason they all say 32Gb is because samsung states the same on their website. That 64 Gb works is just a nice extra

They are talking about the fact you can change the color of the ink effect. Calm down. Seriously.

I have a Verizon Note 2 and it had the ink effect on the home screen since day one (1/4/13) and my Android Version is 4.1.1
