Galaxy Note 4: 5 Things Buyers Need to Know Now

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is getting closer and today, with buyers starting to get antsy, we want to take a look at what we think are the five things you need to know, right now, about the Samsung Galaxy 4.

Back in early September, Samsung took the stage and announced a slew of new products including two new Galaxy Note models dubbed Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note 4 will be the true successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 3 and it will go on sale with a number of high-powered features starting in mid-October.

The Samsung Galaxy 4 is a powerful smartphone and comes with an array of high octane specifications including a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a brand new 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a new S Pen stylus, Android 4.4.4 KitKat software that’s backed by TouchWiz, a brand new design that comes with both plastic and metal materials, and a whole lot more.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 is a top contender and a device that will be doing battle with the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One, and the all new 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. And while the company was initially silent about Galaxy Note 4 release information in the build up to its arrival, we’ve seen a ton of new details emerge in recent days.

Over the past month, we’ve been tracking the Galaxy Note 4 release in an effort to keep interested buyers up to date with the latest details. In the past two weeks, we’ve finally started to see the Galaxy Note 4 release date make some serious progress. And with the the holidays fast approaching, we want to fill you in on what we think are the five most important details of the bunch.

Here are five things every Galaxy Note 4 buyer should know right now ahead of the Galaxy Note 4 release date later this month.

New Galaxy Note 4 Release Date Info

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date in the United States appears to still be on for October 17th though we have seen at least one delay impact the Galaxy Note 4 release.

The UK Galaxy Note 4 release date, which was originally scheduled to take place today, has been postponed a week to October 17th. October 17th also will serve as the Galaxy Note 4 release date in the United States meaning that we should see two of the biggest markets get Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Note 4 on the same day.

Galaxy Note 4

As we’ve noted, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 release date in the United Kingdom appears to be the only one impacted by this delay though with a week to go before the U.S. release date, anything is possible.

U.S. carriers continue to hold firm on an October 17th arrival though Verizon has continually listed a ship by date of October 23rd, or, a week after October 17th. That release date has also been confirmed by a listing on Amazon though it’s not clear if that date pertains to online orders of in-store orders. For the moment though, the Galaxy Note 4 release date appears to be safe in the U.S. and other countries around the world.

You Can Buy the Galaxy Note 4 Right Now

If case you haven’t heard, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is available, right now, in the United States. Carriers are taking pre-orders and Amazon and Expansys are both selling it unlocked ahead of it street date. Buyers need to know that current Galaxy Note 4 price levels are extremely high and that they should drop in the weeks after its release.

Those of you that have money to burn though can buy the Galaxy Note 4 right now and it should arrive ahead of October 17th. It’s not the recommended route but it’s a route that impatient buyers can take to get their hands on the Galaxy Note 4.

You Can Go Hands-on Right Now

We highly recommend going hands-on with the Galaxy Note 4 before you buy it and thankfully, some Best Buy stores have the Galaxy Note 4 out on display ahead of its release. Not all stores will have it though and you’ll want to call ahead before heading down to your local location. If you’re at all interested in this smartphone, we suggest putting in a call and heading down to go hands-on.

Note-4-Design-2

Samsung’s Galaxy Note series are extremely unique smartphones because they come with both a massive display and an S Pen stylus. These aren’t going to be for everyone. We know plenty of Galaxy Note users that bought the device and rarely, if ever, used the S Pen. We also know several Galaxy Note users who wound up hating the device’s overall size, a product of the massive display.

Go hands with this phone early if you can. It will pay dividends in the future.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Date

Another thing that prospective Galaxy Note 4 buyers need to be aware of is that the Galaxy Note 4’s curved counterpart, the Galaxy Note Edge, will arrive in October as well.

Japanese carriers have confirmed an October release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Samsung itself has also confirmed the Galaxy Note Edge release date for late October which makes it official. The device will arrive in Japan starting October 23rd. This is important because it means that the Galaxy Note Edge release is on track for 2014.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Photos 4

We still don’t have any official release dates but consumers should know that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date in the United States is going to be coming soon.

Earlier this week, we spotted the AT&T Galaxy Note Edge, also known as the SM-N915A, crossing through the FCC on its way to shelves. While the filing didn’t confirm a release date, it’s a clear sign of the U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date making progress behind the scenes. T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note Edge also recently passed through and we’re now expecting an announcement sometime in October.

This is a device that you should keep an eye one, especially now with its release date so close.

Galaxy Note 4 Deals

Finally, you should know that we’ve already spotted Galaxy Note 4 deals. While they aren’t insane deals, retailers are offering a number of ways to knock the price off of the Galaxy Note 4. This is huge because as you might know, the Galaxy Note 4’s price isn’t exactly cheap.

Note-4-vs-Note-3-2

On top of that, Samsung is throwing in something called Galaxy Gifts. While some of the gifts are laughable, others are extremely useful. Free Dropbox storage for two years is huge, so is a free 12-week subscription to the New York Times.

So, don’t be scared off by the Galaxy Note 4’s price tag. There are deals to be had and there’s no reason to pay full price for the Galaxy Note 4 ahead of its release. None.

I couldn’t wait until the first Note got into my hands, I so badly wanted a large screen phone. The S pen and the S note app went from curious gadget to an integrated part of my life. Unfortunately I couldn’t upgrade to the Note 2 so I got a Note 10.1 and enjoyed being able to swap S notes back and forth between Note 1 and the tablet. I upgraded to Note 3 and found they’d downgraded the S Note app. It doesn’t have all the fine capabilities as when it started on the original Note, nor can I swap and edit S notes between my two Note devices. While Samsung boasts the S pen now has more sensitivity, ya-da ya-da, it still can’t swap S notes between Note devices except as view only. Why the company would downgrade the one thing that is unique to this family of devices is beyond me. I’ll be waiting for the Note 5 and hope they might decide to put a little effort into restoring their app to it’s original glory.

I just received 2 emails from T-Mobile. 1 saying my credit card payment was processed. 2nd saying my product shipped. I checked UPS And it has the tracking number that says in transit. Delivery date 10-13-14. Not sure but they must of released some of the Note4’s. I selected next day delivery when ordered it. My credit card was charged a total of $93.75. Words but excited.
