New Note Edge & Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop Update Details

A series of brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop release details have been confirmed as we push deeper into the month of April.

Earlier this year, Samsung started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge flagships. While the roll outs have been fairly slow, we’ve finally started to see a huge amount of pickup as we push into late April towards May and the summer months. Some of those details have emerged for users inside the United States while others have been confirmed for Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge users outside of the US.

Today, we’ve spotted several new Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update details for users in regions outside of the United States. And while some of these Lollipop release details are good, others point to a long drawn out roll out process for some owners of these popular smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates are finally hitting some users in Australia. Optus recently confirmed Lollipop roll outs for its Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge variants, roll outs that take the two devices from Android 4.4.4 KitKat to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, an aging version of Google’s new software.

The updates, which started rolling out last week, should be available to all users of the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge as Optus now says that the roll outs have been “completed.” This is a big step for all Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge users in Australia though it appears that the roll outs are going to take their time in a region that’s typically a little behind the rest of the pack in terms of timing.

A few days ago, Australian carrier Vodafone confirmed that its testing for both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates failed behind the scenes. The carrier notes that it’s now awaiting feedback from Samsung, a sign that these updates could still be a little ways away from rolling out to the general public.

The carrier hasn’t updated either Lollipop release with a new ETA though with just two days to go before another update to its Android software update page, we could see the carrier post new details later on this week. Testing is extremely unpredictable in Australia and in regions around the world and these failures go to show that Samsung’s roll outs will not be completed overnight.

In the United States, the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update is the only remaining Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release. The carrier says that the update remains in testing behind the scenes though it has been in internal testing at T-Mobile for a number of days now which means that it could be deployed at any time to the flagship device.

T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update is still in the “Manufacturer Development” process which means that it still hasn’t been passed over to T-Mobile for internal testing. The update has remained there for several days now as Samsung works to get the update prepared for its public arrival later on this year.

AT&T’s recently confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update though the update still remains a bit of a mystery. According to several Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop users, the update remains unreleased. AT&T’s confirmation means that the software should, at some point, start rolling out though it’s still not clear when AT&T will start pushing the firmware to all of its users.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates continue to make huge strides in the weeks since their belated arrivals. The Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates were both beaten to the punch by Android 5.0 upgrades for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 though they have started to gain ground on Samsung’s updates for its older flagships.

Got mine on Verizon a couple weeks ago. Wish I had passed on it. It’s ugly. It’s slugish. And it eats batteries for lunch, meaning you have to recharge in the afternoon to have any juice left by dinner. Complete fiasco in my book.

Completely agree with Jeff’s comment. In addition to what Jeff details, I have noticed that my Note 4 has a much tougher time finding and staying in 4G. What’s the point of having a 10gb data plan, if my ability to use it is spotty. I am not sure how this made it out of the testing lab at Verizon.

Have you guys tried factory resetting the device? I heard this solves most if not all the issues including battery life.
