Galaxy Note 4 & Note 3 Lollipop Release Details Confirmed

on

New Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop release details have been confirmed today thanks to a new software upgrade page from T-Mobile.

In December, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update. In the weeks since, the company’s rolled out three more Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop updates including upgrades for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Right now, only the Galaxy S5 Lollipop release is available in the United States though that’s expected to change in the near future.

Thanks to Sprint’s website, we know that the carrier is planning a Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The release date still hasn’t been confirmed but the update’s currently in testing behind the scenes. Today, thanks t0 T-Mobile’s website, we now have a lead on two more major Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop releases.

U.S. carriers traditionally have kept to themselves when it comes to the Android upgrade process. T-Mobile, also known as the UnCarrier, isn’t your traditional U.S. carrier. Today, the carrier’s unleashed a brand new Android upgrade page that reveals a number of new Android update details ahead of release. The goal is to keep its customers as informed as possible ahead of the eventual release.

T-Mobile’s Android update page confirms two Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop updates. A Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release and a Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 release. The carrier doesn’t outline specific release dates though it does offer some insight into their releases.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop update is currently in testing at T-Mobile. Here is how T-Mobile describes this step which is the step ahead of the update’s public release:

During this stage the device will go through T-Mobile certification process testing to make sure you get the best quality software possible.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update is a step behind. Its currently in a stage T-Mobile calls “Manufacturer Development.” The carrier says that this means that “T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update.”

Furthermore, the carrier goes on to say that “T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support software version Android 5.0 Lollipop. The software update will include new features, functionality and improvements to give a better user experience.” In other words, while the update is confirmed, it’s not in for testing at T-Mobile which means that it could be weeks, if not months away.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update got off to an extremely slow start as it got beat out by both the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Lollipop roll outs. We’ve seen several other carriers, SFR and Rogers in Canada, confirm Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop releases though specific release dates, for the moment, remain out of reach. SFR originally said that it would get the update out in February but with the clock winding down, that may not happen.

T-Mobile’s Android update page also lists a number of other Android updates including an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The carrier says that the software is still in “Manufacturer Development” which again means that a release is probably several weeks away at least. The Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update only recently started rolling out and it’s limited to one variant in Australia.

The carrier is also just one of three major U.S. carriers that have rolled out the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update. Sprint and Verizon have also rolled out their own versions of the software while the AT&T and U.S. Cellular Galaxy S5 variants remains on Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s not clear when AT&T and U.S. Cellular plan to roll out their updates and consumers shouldn’t expect them to roll out software update pages like the one T-Mobile rolled out today.

Please stop posting misleading and useless ‘info’ about supposed news regarding the lollipop update. Your header leads one to believe that the article’s content will contain valuable and concise information, which is absolutely not the case. Nobody cares that sprint has confirmed that an update will be released for the note 3 and 4. WE ALREADY KNOW that is the case. STOP WASTING OUR TIME WITH YOUR MISLEADING LIES

Yeah, very misleading title that a lot of other websites do. I am just going to stick with reputable sites or forums for information instead of googling on the section.
