Galaxy Note 5 vs S6 Edge Plus: Software

Another big difference is software. Yes they're both running the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, while we wait for Android 6.0 Marshmallow to arrive, and are covered in Samsung's TouchWiz interface. That said, there are a few changes.

These phones don't have a micro-SD slot to expand storage, in the effort of having better build quality and a metal design. As a result each GB of space is important. The Galaxy Note 5 needs more space for the S-Pen stylus and all of its apps. To quickly take notes while the screen is off, and all the other productivity tools that come along with the stylus. As a result there's about 1-2GB more free space out of the box on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

One other big difference in the software, is the curved display on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The regular Galaxy S6 Edge has a slide-out tray with favorite contacts on it for easy access to instantly call or text, but with the S6 Edge Plus they've added Apps to the edge. This means a quick swipe will get you some of your favorite apps, without opening the app tray.

Yes it's sort of a gimmick, as we have plenty of homescreens, but it's still a neat feature, and one more thing that separates these two phones from one another. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ also lets users select a color for each favorite contact, and that edge will glow when they call or text. Letting owners instantly know who's calling without even looking.

Again, the Note 5 is for business, while the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is for fun and pleasure. That said, we're sure millions of buyers will get the Note 5 for the big screen, and most of them will rarely use the S-Pen stylus and just want the bigger screen.
