The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date is almost here and we know nearly everything about it already. At the same time, these new Galaxy Note 8 photos confirm key features and are spoiling Samsung’s surprise. Here’s what potential buyers need to know.

For months on end leaked photos and rumors have painted a clear picture of the Galaxy Note 8. Additionally, famed leakster @evleaks continues to reveal almost everything ahead of time.

Until today everything we’ve seen is a leak, render, rumor, or concept. Meaning nothing was remotely official and certain aspects of the phone were still a mystery. Not anymore though, as real live photos are confirming everything we’ve heard so far.

Galaxy Note 8 Prototype in the wild

The Galaxy Note 8 could end up being one of Samsung’s best smartphones yet. From a big new curved Infinity display to impressive dual cameras on the back. We’ve heard it time and time again, but here they are in the flesh. Essentially confirming exactly what will get announced on August 23rd by Samsung.

Leaked photos show exactly what we’ve heard time and time again from rumors. And while nothing is official until Samsung confirms it up on stage, these are some of the important changes you’ll want to know about.

5 Galaxy Note 8 Features Confirmed

  • Massive 6.3-inch Quad HD S-AMOLED Infinity Display with rounded edges, curved sides, and squared off design (compared to the Galaxy S8)
  • Dual Rear Cameras: 12 DualPixel camera with f/1.7 aperture, and a 12 Megapixel f/2.4 aperture lens with 2x optical zoom. Both cameras feature optical image stabilization and more
  • Rear fingerprint scanner confirmed: The fingerprint scanner will not be on the front inside the display glass.
  • Bixby AI Assistant with a dedicated Bixby button (like the Galaxy S8)
  • 3.5mm headphone jack included (Samsung will not remove the headphone jack on the Galaxy Note 8)

We had a good idea of what to expect already, but these photos make it official. Samsung will deliver a phone that’s bigger, better and has more to offer than the already popular Galaxy S8 lineup from earlier this year.

In short, the Galaxy Note 8 is almost identical to the Galaxy S8+. However, Samsung added a slightly bigger screen, a second rear camera with a 2x optical zoom, and an extra 2GB of RAM for improved performance, multitasking, and gaming. Making this Samsung’s first mainstream phone with 6GB of RAM. Additionally, the phone comes with the popular S-Pen stylus, IP68 dust and water resistance, wireless charging and Samsung Pay.

One thing to keep in mind is rumors believe the Galaxy Note 8 will only have a 3,300 mAh battery to power the big 6.3-inch display. As a comparison, the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+ has a bigger 3,500 mAh battery.

Initially, Samsung planned to put the fingerprint scanner on the front under the screen but wasn’t able to make the technology work. Instead, users have to stretch to the top right side of this big smartphone. At least the flash separates the fingerprint scanner from the cameras, so owners won’t get fingerprints all over the camera lens.

Galaxy Note 8 Launch & Release Date

The bigger, faster, dual camera rocking Galaxy Note 8 will be announced on August 23rd in New York City and at small events around the globe. We’re hearing pre-orders will begin on or around August 25th, with a release date following 3 weeks later.

In the past, Samsung released its phones two weeks after the announcement, but this year they’re taking more time for marketing and to ramp up inventory. As a result, most reports from Korea believe the global Galaxy Note 8 release date is September 15th.

The only mystery or surprise left is the price, but Evan Blass believes the Galaxy Note 8 will end up Samsung’s most expensive smartphone to date, costing nearly $1,000. We’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned right here for more details as they become available.

Galaxy Note 8: 5 Reasons to Wait & 4 Reasons Not To

Wait If You Want the Best Display

Wait If You Want the Best Display

If you want the biggest and best smartphone display on the market, Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 will be the phone to buy. In fact, we're hearing it will have a huge 6.3-inch Infinity Display that looks great. Earlier this year the company debuted the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Both of those phones have bigger screens than any prior year, and tiny bezels or black bars around the screen.

The Galaxy S8 release tells us a lot about the upcoming Galaxy Note 8. Samsung will likely offer a similar screen where there are no physical button or a fingerprint scanner. It's all screen on the front. The sides will curve off the phone, and the black bars of bezel at the top and bottom are very minimal. Which gives it an edge-to-edge look Samsung calls an Infinity Display.

Samsung went from 5.5-inches in the Galaxy S7 Edge to 6.2-inches with the Galaxy S8+. The company offered the same big jump from the Galaxy S7 to the Galaxy S8, and we anticipate the same for the Galaxy Note 8.

If you want a big 6.3-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Infinity Display with tons of space for apps, games or business, the Galaxy Note 8 will be worth waiting for. Recent leaks suggest the bezels could be smaller than what we see with the Galaxy S8 too, making it feel like the entire phone is all screen on the front.
