Galaxy Note 8 Pie Update: 7 Reasons to Get Excited & 2 Not To

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie update is still weeks away, but we already know quite a bit about the new operating system and UI.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 was among the first Galaxy devices to Android Oreo and it will also be among the first to Samsung’s upcoming Android 9.0 Pie update.

The Galaxy Note 8 is no longer a flagship device which means it’s no longer at the top of Samsung’s software update pecking order but it looks like Samsung is working on a fast release.

The Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 are Samsung’s flagship models which means they get Android Pie before the likes of the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie updates are both rolling out right now.

The Galaxy Note 8 isn’t the first device to Android Pie, it should be part of the second wave of Samsung’s Android 9.0 Pie updates. We also expect the former flagship to get at least some of the upgrades Samsung brings to the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9.

We don’t have Samsung’s official Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie change log just yet, but thanks to a series announcements, the Galaxy S9/Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie updates, and a Galaxy Note 8 Pie beta we know what the company’s new operating system looks like.

Samsung’s Android Pie update is slated to bring significant UI changes to Galaxy devices and it looks like the Galaxy Note 8 gets most of them.

We’re still weeks away from the official Galaxy Note 8 Pie update’s release, but there are some reasons to get excited about the next big update for your device.

Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie Beta Rolling Out

In a bit of a twist, Samsung's released a Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta ahead of the official release.  This should come as a bit of a surprise to longtime Samsung users because the company typically limits the beta to flagship models.  The Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta is rolling out in select regions right now (South Korea and India) and it could expand to other territories in the days ahead.  If you're interested in testing the Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie update you should think about installing the beta when/if it arrives in your region. If it doesn't come to your region, you can always manually install the update and get many of the same features.
